Okay,i went to work tonight,as i usually do,wearing what i usually do.
Black pants,a singlet and if it's cold i chuck on a coat.
I dont do anything glamorous or taxing, the only contact i have with others is when they are leaving for the night.
My problem is this;
Tonight my boss came into work, which he dont usually do,we work alone pretty much.
He tells me there have been complaints about the way i dress, that my cleavage is offensive.
In the next breath he said it was an Occupational Health and Safety issue.
OH&S?
I'm a danger to people i dont even work in close contact with, simply because of my boobs?

It's the middle of summer,it's warm,i dont wear a uniform.
Is female cleavage offensive?
Or just mine?

i'm sorry tess, as much as i love boobs i don't think a shirt like that is appropriate for a work situation. it is stupid for people to complain to your boss though. i don't see it as a hazzard... except maybe as a distraction :p

I think your boss needs a reality check... I wouldn't complain about cleavage like yours... I think it should be compulsory. :D okay so maybe it wouldn't be appropriate in the coronary care ward but I can't see too many problems anywhere else.

I used to wear tailored suits and wingtips everyday. What's more offensive than that.

I'm a fucking cleaner for god sake.
When i'm at the shitholes i clean, people are leaving, they dont even have to deal with me.
Unless of course it's to complain about dust on a desk or tampon wrappers left behind the shithouse.
If i was an office worker ordealt with the public on a regular basis,i wouldn't dream of wearing something like that.

Thanks lexie.
I'm just kinda pissy.

Ya know when my boss was telling me all this,i swear he salivated as he leered down my cleavage.
At least he has good taste i guess.*L*

Do you work for an outside cleaning service, by any chance? The building management hires the company you work for? My guess is that building workers complained to the cleaning company, so your boss had to talk to you. It's a service industry, your company probably tries to do what it can to keep the account.

I'm not sure about safety violations, that seems to be a stretch.

Hey Awesome! It wouldn't surprise me if somebody sprained their neck on the way out, & it offended their co-worker girlfriend. Once a complaint is filed , the manager may be forced to act, because he has to write a report about it. He may not be an asshole per se...

I'd cooperate and let it drop under the circumstances, figuring it's more trouble than it's worth. By theway, I think that's reasonable dress for an after-hours cleaner. But as for health & safety, didn't you tell us you could smother someone between your boobs?;) :D

I find your clothing offensive, too.

Take 'em off altogether!

(And now that the joke's over, I agree--prob'ly best to just go about doing your job like always.)

here I figured you for an aerobics instructor....

I gotta ask you , Awesome , do you own a french maid's uniform for personal use?;)

Our cleaners used to come in and work in five inch high heels and very nice outfits. I don't know how they got any work done. They were fired pretty soon. Because of their crappy work, not their clothes. They were the ongoing joke for a little while.:)
I guess they could be pissed you get to wear pretty much whatever you want while the rest of us are stuck in ugly uniforms or stuffy work outfits?

Only thing I can think of for that health and saftey violation is that you have a lot of skin exposed and you could spill something caustic on your breats. I mean they do stick out and would tend to cup whatever chemical that you spilled.

I mean I know at school when I work in the building we have to wear long pants and full covering shoes for that reason. We can't wear sandles because if we were to spill some nasty cleaner down onto our feet it would just puddle under the sandles and could do lots of damage.

i'm on to you hun. This was just a ploy to get us to all look at your boobs, wasn't it?!
