Ok if you could be sipping a cold bottle of suds riight now ( or whatever your poison is ) ]

Where you be ?- would it be somewhere exotic - or just your own local. Let us know where your favourite watering hole is and why.

Then we can all come and and visit for a drink.

It doesnt have to be near - just somewhere that means something

Ok I will get us started -

Amongst many establishments that I have found myself in - I fancy being a pub called the Rock in Hermanus SA.

It is a liitle town near Cape Town. The Rock sits out in the Ocean. And in the summer the sun is great and you can watch the whales out in the Bay as they come up from the antartic to mate .

Sounds like heaven - it is !!

Manzanilla...

OK Syn -- thats interesting .

A tad more information would have been welcome , like where why what etc

But thanks for stopping by :D

Mexico.
Warm black beaches that turn gold when you write your name.
A gentle, lazy cove.
Close to the Corona bottling plant.
Love the tour!

;)

sounds like a plan to me !!

ocassionly you come across these places that forever stay in your memory - wither it is real is not important -

There was this place in Southern California, it's no longer there, that was a mexican restaurant/pub. It had big glass windows and faced the ocean from across Ocean Boulevard (two lane brick paved road) with a park full of palm trees across the way. On Sunday afternoons, a Mexican band would play, the sun would be setting across the ocean and the beams of light and sparkles from the ocean would flicker through the swaying palms. Corona please.

Will this thread is sinking fast.

Come on guys and galls - give us some inspiration !

There's this place in Laguna Beach, perched up on a cliff and tucked in the middle of a rose garden, called Los Brisas. It's actually a fance restaurant, but it has an outdoor patio that is tiled and protected from the ocean breezes by a glass barrier, kinda like the protective glass at a hockey rink. They serve the best Marguaritas and the waitresses all look very fine.

It sits next to a pathway that winds through a park, down along the cliff and down to the beach, so there's great people watching there.

Well you know I'll jump on a thread about drinking! There is a little island in Lake Erie off the north coast of Ohio. Its called Kelleys Island. There's a bar/marina called the Casino. You sit out on the deck on picnic tables and watch the boats go by, eat great hot wings, and drink Bloody Mary's. They'll have a live band start up around 10:00 and tons of people cram onto the dance floor. But its almost nicer to just sit out on the deck and take it all in........

Sounds like a fine way to wind away an afternoon/early evening !!

If anyone ever gets to Edinburgh and needs some sustinance on a cold night ( it is always cold there ) then head for the Grassmarket - historic in the shade of the castle.

Head for the White Heart - the first pub I ever drank in as a boy !!

A few years ago now :(

I rarely drink, G. So I don't have a fav spot. I guess it would be more who I was drinking with than where.

I went to a pub there, in the shadow of the castle, though I don't remember the name. I also took a horse and carriage tour around the town and heard about the many ghosts that inhabit the area. I stayed in an old hotel on the top of the hill with a circular driveway...many years ago now and I can't remember names well.

Pickle Bills bar, in the summer it floats on pontoons in the Grand River, just at the opening into Lake Erie. There are docks to pull your boat up to. They also have over 140 different kinds of beer, I'm still working my way through them!:D

Queen, in Paris.

But if you're a guy and you go, make sure you take some girls or else the guys will give you a pinch.

Cant picture the Hotel

The the two biggets were the Caledonian and the North British ( now called the Balmoral )

There are a few up near the castle though

You can do a haunted tour around old Edinburgh , that include a trip into the deserted catacombs that still exist below the streets

Of course the company is always important - but if you could choose the ideal companion or companions

In Ireland, I went to Johnny Fox's Pub, the highest pub in Ireland. Had my fill of Guiness there, the worst part was my drunken comrade, Fergus, driving back down the mountain. Somehow we survived!!

Juicylips, you need to come with me to my favorite spot. It's about five miles from my house. It's called Whitewater Falls. It is the highest falls in the eastern US. and there is a hugh boulder that sits across the next ridge where you can hang out watch the falls, sunbathe, smoke reefer and drink booze and feel like everything in the world is OK. Not many folks go there... Secluded

Now that sounds nice.

I don't have a favorite per se, it depends on the company and the atmosphere, I guess.

Yes have had my share of hazy nights on the guiness in Ireland

Once took an American colleague out for a night of the black stuff - every time he tried to escape and hold out his hand to shake hands with the group- someone shoved a pint in his hands !! :D

There is no such thing as a quick pint in Ireland.

Now that's what I call an excellent drinking spot. I love places like that. Especially watching the water.

The back garden of the India House Hostel in Washington DC, sipping Corona.

Traveled through the states last summer and had a fantastic week there with lovely weather and a great group of people.
