Ode to Common Things

white cotton sheets washed in lavendar detergent.... (I know others said it, but it's the lavendar detergent that really adds to it)

Hawks
The steamy fog over a lake in the morning
Full moons
The small of a woman's back
The smell of a cat
Dew
coffee

Especially harvest moons...all huge and orange just barely on the horizon. It's always a "WOW" moment to me.

And you said we had nothing in common.

iced tea

fluffy pillows

vanilla scented candles

stretching out on clean sheets right out of the dryer

homemade cinnamon rolls

That poem, Shank, reminded me of this one:

The Red Wheelbarrow, by William Carlos Williams
so much depends
upon
a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens.

what are mine?

clean laundry
coffee
twilight
a clean sink (for some reason, I'm really into clean sinks )
cotton panties

:cathappy: ~ Neon

so many things i've already read, and...

the smell of lemon verbena
soaps & lotions made of the same

the cool of the fog creeping over the hills after a hot san francisco afternoon

the sound of my fat kitty Leo and the look on his face when he cries for asparagus

having my back scratched

iced coffee

tulips

long conversations with my sis

sunday morning breakfasts at "Joe's"

green thai vegetable curry

the look of an elegant butch woman from the back as she turns her head

hot showers

Like the previous so much of what I have read and...
marbles
beads
paperclips
palm trees
rainbows
rain on a metal roof
snowflakes
libraries
shoes
...oh and Lit

Stretching out on sheets fresh in from the clothesline.

The smell of bacon frying or popcorn popping. (strange, but i don't like to eat either of those things, but their smell just promises more than anything could deliver)

Coffee Percolators (yes, the old fashioned electric I Love Lucy type percolators. I have about 30 of them -- my insurance against ever having to drink drip coffee again)

Peaches, still warm from the sun and fresh off the tree.

Tomatoes, fresh off the vine

When my normally energetic little cairn terrier puppy finally gets tired and lays down on my foot to sleep.

When Dragon creeps up behind me at a very 'nilla social gathering and growls "MINE" into my ear.

vinyl LP records playing songs from my youth in the background on a rainy day
