Thought of this saying and that it might be a good Literotica title.
Turns out there are two existing stories with the title- one from 2020 in Gay Male with sci-fi overtones that has a red H; and one from 2014 in Group Sex.
Chose to view this as confirmation, but also suggesting there is room for more.
Like an incest variation.
Why do I say incest?
Because the trigger that made me think about the saying was feeling like the odd man out from my siblings.
So maybe the MC is the Odd Man Out watching sibling sex? Or there is a whole family orgy and he is left out?
Or.... whatca got?

Easiest way if you wanted an incest/taboo bent would be have MC as a step/adoptive relation. They find out about an incestous tradition in the family they’ve become a part of and that they aren’t a part of it.

Like “Society” without the shunting.

For example: Guy’s in college and he runs into one of his step cousins. He asks how they’ve been and if they’ve talked to his stepbrother as he hasn’t been answering his messages.

Cousin says “oh he’s been over with my mom, you know how she is once she gets some man candy.”

Guy just looks perplexed and cousin suddenly changes the subject though it’s clear he didn’t know MC wasn’t in the know. MC finds out and doesn’t know how to feel: they love their family (not sure if in that way) and while highly taboo they seem to be enjoying it in a healthy way…but they are upset with how it was kept a secret from him. Do they even see him as a family member?

Non-incest: easiest one is a first time story (virgin character feels like they’re the only person who hasn’t had sex)

Also fetish: in this case, story is from MC feeling they’re the only one with a particular fetish. Like one I don’t get is armpits. But to flip it, what if MC has a big armpit fetish? They even have an attractive partner but they’re scared to bring up their fetish as it might weird them out.

If you’re wanting to explore a unique queer theme: MC who is Aromantic but not Asexual. Last gender had a character like that. She’s friendly with everyone and loves sex but the idea of being in a romantic relationship doesn’t feel right. This of course causes her difficulty till she finds the sex club in the series and finds people who don’t get her but accept her.

It reminds me of Warhol. Apparently he was so weird at orgies and not participating he was kicked out plenty of times. The odd man out. Even from the inside of the house he was as if staring through the windows.

Maybe it's a man in a highly erotic environment he doesn't feel at home in. Enter someone or several some ones that pivot and help him achieve an erotic enlightenment. Either on his own turf, or pulled over the barrier so he can enjoy the status quo.
