I've just been approached by somebody, three separate feedback emails, all saying the same thing: "I don't normally reach out after discovering someone's work, but your story genuinely made me want to say something. I'd love to share what made it memorable for me." I'm concerned it's fishing. Has anyone seen anything like this recently?

I post some of my shorter stories on Deviant Art, just because I can...

99% of my comments are

"I really loved your story, I am a digital artist and I believe I can make a great series of work from it...lots of generic waffle... Please DM me at Insta and Disc*rd."

I ignore them now and is if by magic Deviant Art deletes the messages as spam...as they clearly comment on every story published. Then the artists account is deleted too.

Someone must have fun setting up bots to do the donkey work. I imagine the same bot has attacked Lit with the emails?

I have had the same experience on DeviantArt. Every time I post a story, someone leaves a copy-and-paste comment saying that they are blown away by my story and would love to turn it into a beautiful comic. Once, out of curiosity, I answered and they wanted $8,000 for such work!
