“Chance of a Lifetime Job:

Creative people wanted for perm. placement overseas. Must have management potential. No exp. nec in any given field, but be passionate about area of potential placement. Outstanding benefits, unbelievable advancement ops,
total control over your team. Equal OP employer.”

Clutching the advert in your hand you come for your appointment. The waiting room is filled with all sorts of people
from Hollywood stars to street bums belching and shifty eyed women who could just as easily be hookers or
senators. The regal looking receptionist nods you towards a chair to wait, and she calls you by name and asks you to
go down the hall for your interview. Strange, you don’t remember giving it to her....

A handsome and physically overpowering man smiles at you with perfect teeth and shakes your hand firmly, but not
too firmly. “I am so glad you could make it.” He says sincerely, in fact, you have the feeling the man would be
incapable of lying even if he tried. “I’m going to lay it out for you nice and simple, if that’s OK. Just cut straight to
the chase, as they say.”

He gestures for you to sit as he takes a seat himself. “Armageddon is just around the corner and this universe is just
about done for as far as souls and redemption and all of that. God, as you know, and Lucifer have been more or less
separating the wheat from the chaff as it were. Now, if your a student of the “Bible” you know that when this earth
is over hell too will be destroyed. Pretty much everyone believes that means all the souls in it will be destroyed also.
Coffee?”

He pauses to pour you both a cup and grins at you, knowing your thinking about the exit about now. “Now, God is
the ultimate recycle. It’s one of His basic laws that energy cannot be destroyed, only changed. So all those souls
can’t just be thrown out with the bathwater, so to speak. What we do is we set up another universe and give
everyone a second chance. The fundamentals are the same, but let’s face it...if we gave everyone the same choices
and everything then everyone would make the same mistakes, right?”

He sips his coffee. “So, we are building this new world and populating it and we need new minor gods for the people
to worship and build myths on before we give them the one true God. I mean, it can’t be like choosing between
yellow and yellow...that’s not a real choice is it? And primitive people need gods. If you don’t give them some then
they just make them up and there simply is no game plan. Right now there are the chosen who know about God, and
everyone else is pretty much into the Earth Mother camp. But they are moving into the bronze age now and that
requires a level of...sophistication Earth Mother just can’t provide.”

Flipping open a folder he runs his finger down a list. “Benefits include near immortality....the more people you can
get to believe in you the stronger you are. Blessings, curses, the normal gambit of stuff....You get one miracle event
for every 100 believers. You will need to create temples, myths, so forth and so on. Of course you will be eventually
over thrown...but there is an outstanding retirement package: You can create your own heaven and populate it the
those who you wish the most to spend eternity with. So, what do you say?” His eyes begin to glow a little and you
feel nervous and you find you can’t just laugh this off...you believe.

“I...I would like to be a god.” You stutter.

“Great! Glad to have you on board!” He leans back and beams at you. “Now that you have decided I’ll let you in on
a little secret.” He leans close and mock whispers to you. “Only people who are moments from death can see our ad.
They are given enough spare time to come and receive this opportunity. If they accept they go on to the next level,
but if they refuse...they are placed back to the moment we ‘borrowed’ them from and have to go through the
judgment process.”

He leans back again and slides a form across to you. “Take your time filling this out and then go see Peter in the next
room for the final OK.”

****************************************************

Name:
Aspect: (What are you the god/goddess of? The Sun and Moon are taken, as is Mother Earth; remember feelings
such as Hope etc are muses, and not gods/goddess.)
Human Appearance:
Powers (minor): (You may chose up to three minor powers that do not require believers.)
Totem bird/fish/animal: (Which you can control and/or inhabit or change into)
Totem plant:
Element: (Such as streams, flame, wind, clay, Opal)
Symbol:

Such as:

The Lady of Quests and Journeys, Alyiss

Alyiss aids those who are beginning or on a quest or journey; or hinders them, depending on her goals.

Her human appearance can change to play a variety of roles to give out clues to the quests; but generally she is seen as a woman with ink black hair, snow white skin, lips pink as a just kissed maids and eyes the violet of spring flowers.

Her minor powers are: The power to make a shrine appear where ever she or one of her priests have been, the power
to see the proper path of a persons destiny, and the Kiss of Life in which she takes some of her power and revives a
hero via her physical kiss.

Her element is the wind, her totem is the sparrow, her flower is the dandelion, and her symbol is the compass.

****************************************************

Game Goals:

1. To become powerful via getting bielevers
2. To create myths
3. To become THE major deity rather than the patron god of your city.
4. To have fun.

***************************************************

Urgo is populated with humans who have just entered the bronze age. Serfs and slaves from conquored lands are common, life is hard and short for the poor, and art and science are just beginning to flourish. When you apply you will be given a city to become the patron god/goddess of and a small temple...with no priests or followers. Some of the larger cities will be shared. The land mass is roughly the size of the U.S. and the shape of a large curve.

A few small mircles and some recruiting will be in order from the start....

For example: Alyiss has been given Thalia. Thalia is a city-state perfectly posied to become a major mover and shaker. It sits on the banks of a mighty river, the Ria, and the sea. Inland caravans cross the desert to reach the Ria and ship their goods down to Thalia. Since Thalia is a growing city she may have to share it.

Game will start July 25th!

I've been looking forward to this one. Sounds good.

The mockingbird, silly!

Which, considering his aspect, would be approp. No?

Or the Loon.

And she would find herself the patron goddess of Jesters and Clowns in Thalia.

Name: Eternal Gear
Aspect: God of Progress and Industry
Human Appearance: Eternal Gear does not usually appear to mortals as a human but as humanoid figure made of brass, iron, and precious metals, draped in a red cape.
Minor Powers: Eternal Gear can improve the quality of any tool, ediface, or mechanical device. He can inspire inventors and scientists suffering from "inventor's block", he can also endow a worshipper with great leadership and marketing skills.
Totem: Beaver
Totem Plant: Corn Stalk
Element: Steam
Symbol: A giant cog

The Eternal Gear's place of power is the town of Bahaus, a coastal city in the mountainous reaches of the north, east of the river Gelb and surrounded by verdant pine and maple forests.

Please remember that at the period we are speaking of the height of tech is the water driven wheel and great rushes of advancement would be counter productive to the prime goal of myth building.

However there were, in Earth myths Golums etc and this is a time of discovery.

Welcome aboard!

Excellent!

I would say that between Thalia and Bahaus would be 30 days by foot Northwest as the desert lays Northeast and old forest and desert don't mix well generally.

I always do too much research, so skip this if it bores you...

The Bronze Age was the period – from about 2300 to 700 BC – when metal first began to be widely used in Britain, possibly as a result of the increase in contact with Europe. However, various types of stone, particularly flint, remained very important for long after metal became available. The Bronze Age saw the introduction of cremation of the dead and burials in round barrows. The later (and best-known) phases of construction at Stonehenge also date from this period.

Archaeologists divide the period into two main parts:

Earlier Bronze Age c2300-1200 BC
Later Bronze Age c1200-700 BC

Inevitably, given such a long time-span, a wide range of burials, monuments, houses, tools, pottery and other artefacts are associated with this period. One of the most important developments concerns the arrival in Britain from about 2300 BC of the Beaker culture. Thought to be of Iberian origin, the 'Beaker people' get their name from the distinctive beakers that accompany their burials – possibly to carry a drink for the deceased on their final journey into the afterlife.

The Beaker people were skilled potters, producing some fine earthenware vessels with a characteristic 'S' shaped profile, as opposed to the coarse wares more widely used at the time. They may have been associated with the later stages of construction at Stonehenge, including the Bluestones, which were brought from the Presely Mountains in south west Wales around 2100 BC, and the famous horseshoe and circle of lintelled stones, which was begun a century or so later. Both the Beaker and later Bronze Age cultures engaged in extensive monument building and and burial of the dead. Outstanding barrows were constructed to honour single individuals, and the development of metalworking, house building and exploitation of the environment moved onto new levels.

Bronze-Age society appears to have been divided into chiefdoms based around a largely agricultural economy. Trade between these groups – and, indeed, more widely with continental Europe – was well developed. Transport by river and sea, using flat-bottomed boats that could be easily beached and navigate far inland, was well established.

The Later Bronze Age also saw major changes for the society of the time. The tradition of single inhumations in barrows, for example, came to an unexplained end – indeed, there is little evidence for any human burial in the Later Bronze Age. Monument building also declined; in its place we find evidence for further exploitation of the agricultural landscape and a stronger definition of settlement. Both pottery and metalworking, however, saw continued advances.

By the Later Bronze Age many more metal objects, in particular, were being produced and their quality was much improved. We find beautifully shaped blades, swords and spearheads to accompany the flat bronze axes, daggers and awls (for making holes) that were the most common tools in the early part of the period. It has been suggested that the changing nature of these metal objects reflects more troubled times as the Iron Age approached.

Level of Tech & suggested advances:

Lower math, writing develops, flat bottomed boats for river and ocean tradeing, villages become city-states...then self-proclaimed kings create armies and begin collecting taxes (Not always paid with money, but with so many days or weeks serving the government), trading and/or conquering other city-states, slavery of captured peoples, agiculture advances, spinning and weaving, the making of paper,

Bunnies;

I was thinking as I did research that Eternal Gear could actually kick off the Bronze Age by inspireing it's frist follower to discover brozne by mixing 10% (available in the mountains nearby) with 90% copper....it would take a while to get the mix right, but having a monopoly on Bronze for a while would help spread your following as crafts people etc wanted to learn the new skill.

Swampy:

Having a temple is in your empoloyment contract, but we can make it less of a temple and more of shrine in a market square in which entertainment regularlly takes place.

Your frist temple is your keystone of power and roots you to Urgo....otherwise you might find yourself drifting back to Earth.

If your first temple is destroyed before you have other functioning temples and/or enough followers who believe in you your god/goddess fades. (however, this is in the fine print of your contract, so PC's won't know that automatcially).

I must say this is truly an original idea.. I like it! hehe

I bow to the lady *bows*

However, please pick Magic or Love and Passion is generally viewed as a level of intrest, unless you are thinking of Eros and Agape (Physcail love and Selfless love).

I'm glad you like it as an orginal idea, it seemed that everyone wanted something new!

To the person who PMed me:

Your box files are full!~ I would have said:

I understand that; in the "real" mythic world many gods/goddesses wore more than one hat. In fact, a lot of them were the same god with diff names as per country...

But in the game I'd like to limit one aspect per god/goddess; at least to start out...

Hummmm, gives me an idea!

And I wrote it, and deleted it, having desided to save it for the game.;)

And to Lady S.:

Please pick a type of bird which you feel would be a good reflection of your aspect. Like Alyiss picked "Sparrow" because they are so common and travel in large flocks, and Pippit chose "Mockingbird" to play tricks.

Raven's are often assoc with magic, owls with wisdom and elder magic, and doves with love.

Hey, Polite, it's good to be writing with you again. I like this concept.

Name: Kane

Aspect: God of Battle and War

Human Apppearance: Kane usually appears as a big muscular figure clad in shining gold armor with a great spear. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes, with dark skin. His chest plate and shield have his totem animal on it.

Minor Powers: Can bless a warrior with physical strength during battle; can bestow an aura of leadership upon a warrior, causing others to follow him into battle; can implant tactics for battle into a warrior's head.

Totem Animal: Wolf

Totem Plant: Oak Tree

Element: Stone

Kane's temple is located in the city of Eboneya, which is known as a city of warriors.

Pippit's proper aspect is Laughter. However, she doesn't have any direct laughter-powers, but has power over small things. Thus she is known as the Goddess of Small Things (or, more often, just the Small Goddess).

I'm going out of town for the weekend so I will be bumping up the start of the thread a bit and will begin on Friday....

Anyone else wish to join?

Anyone who's joined wish to drop out?

Let me know!

I'm looking forward to something new and hopefully exciting for all of us.:)

This sounds great. I know I totally fucked up the last god thread I was in, but come on, give me a chance.

Name: Urthralis
Aspect: God of Expansion/ Growth/ Conquest
Human Appearance: Urthralis appears as a mediumly built man clad in an unknown metal (steel). He carries a massive warhammaer in one hand and constantly changing building plans in the other.
Minor Powers: For a short time, can clad his followers in steel armor; Can pop ideas into people's heads; Can create minor items(Weapons, armor, carts)
Totem Animal: Wasp
Totem Plant: Willow
Element:(Changes with technology) Bronze, Iron, Steel
Urthralis's temple is located in Veciv. His city is known for its good(but not exceptional) warriors, and its excellent architecture and culture.

Hi Morgoth, welcome.

Just one tiny nitpicking thing: Your PC crosses over and steps on the toes of both Bunnies' Eternal Gear and kamalw1's Kane.

Can you pick one *single* aspect that hasn't been chosen yet?

Lady, I didn't post a city for you because you hadn't stated a peference...

Morgoth, I didn't include your city because your PC needs tweaking.

I know I'm a pain in the butt, but I'm the kind of RPGer that focus' on a good story, maybe that's why my threads die.

But, I always hope for the best and most creative writing for/from everyone.

Succubus, you've never mentioned otherwise, but just to confirm: This is a humans-only world? No elves or goblins or lizardfolk or bunnymen?

Damn, I was originally hoping for war, but kamalw1 grabbed that. I don't know. I mean there has to be a single aspect that interests me, but what is it? How about the God of Relation(Emotions, feelings). I don't know. Is that all right?

Name: Urthralis
Aspect: God of Relation
Human Appearance: Depending on mood, he is either a handsome man dressed in colorful robes with flowers in his long hair. Or he is a massively built man in full armor with a huge sword in hand
Minor Powers: Can change others' emotions, can pop emotional ideas into others' minds(can make one person hate a whole race, etc.), can make others very charismatic or very uncharismatic
Totem Animal: Swan
Totem Plant: Willow
Element: Mercury
Urthralis's temple is located in Veciv. It is a city known for its culture and good warriors.

That'll work, but I'll suggest some small changes...

Relations can mean between nations, trade relations etc, so add those also not just "relationships" as in romantic ones....Or am I being sleepy here and not understanding that's what you ment in the frist place?

Since your frist three gifts are MINOR powers the effects of a love/hate blessing/curse will only last 24 hours and only one person not a group of people at a time.

I like the idea of swan for your totem, since they mate for life...

But wonder why you chose the willow? Just curiosity.....

Does that sound fair?

Definitely. Thanks for the help, Succubus. As for the willow, it symbolizes the sorrow caused by all relations. One again, thanks. I'm just happy to be involved in this thread.

If anyone thinks I"m being too harsh, just tell me.

I just have a firm concept in my mind that I'd like to stay true to while allowing you the freedom to develop within some guidelines....Oh my gosh, there goes my daycare admin side showing! ;)

Swampy and I were talking and he asked how much control will gods have over NPC's....

Well, I pretty much exspect you to have nearly total control over your followers, and total control over your clerics. However where your followers and the followers of another god come into play, you can't control the other gods followers/clerics....

Some NPC's will be within my control to get the story moving, or if in your control I will PM you with things I'd like them to do.

A lot of the broad stuff I'll post here (AKA as Swampy does in the LOA BLOOD thread) to keep things on track.....

Once we get set up I'd like to begin a Hero Quest campain setting the gods against each other etc as hinted in by my opening post..after all, that is the stuff myths are made of!

Any other questions?
