Troops on the ground? Why?
Fact is, with air support and armament supplies, the Kurds can chase Isis out of Iraq.
...and there is no good scenario for putting troops in Syria....between Isis, Syrian Rebels who are pissed at us for not coming to their aid sooner...and a Syrian government that hates us. It would be a different story if there was a friendly government in Syria to support.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend philosophy only goes so far...

I do not get why people think politicians are these wonderful 1918 statesmen. They aren't. It is about money and power. Hate Bush. Hate Obama. How has that helped you? He killed that bin Laden so gets a high five on that.

Good point but the military and the intelligence community finally killed the bastard. I'd like to see some statesmen but I think those that may fit the bill are already running companies, foundations, small enterprises, etc. Why would they want to work in a cesspool?

It's always been about money and power, that's not to say that the men don't love their countries. I have no doubt that Obama and Bush and Clinton and Bush and Carter (he's still alive right?) and every man and woman in Washington love this country. I highly doubt that 1918 statesmen were any different. I think we just had less inside information.

I have no doubt they did the best they could. No doubt that Bush and the generals did the very best that they could. The fact however is that after a certain point repeating the same plan, no matter what your books tell you is insanity.
