Not surprising and pretty much the jubliation what you'd expect (by the way, did you know that we'd elected the "King of the World"? :D ), but watch it till the end. What the last guy has to say is a hoot.

Obama Fever

Wow. Think they might be expecting a little much?
Well, he is "King of the World" ;)

It's okay. A bit of unbridled optimism, a moment of fantasy or two, we all need those. They help to keep us going when we eventually come back down to earth again, as we usually do.

I guess the thing I found a bit disturbing was the belief that he is going to change their lives. I don't understand just how they expect him to do that.

Well, if he offers up the example that a black person, with education and a willingness to help others, can rise to be leader of one of the most powerful nations on Earth, that might change their lives. Don't you think?

But possibly they expect that being the son of a Kenyan, this President of the U.S. will have more sympathy for Africa's problems than past white, European-minded presidents.

I don't know whether to smile or cry. With expectations this high, disappointment is inevitable.

This is hilarious! :D

It is :) And it also makes me smile, because I know a LOT of players who voted, who never have before.

Also, they picked the best class to do that shot with - and the Hymn of Hope tooltip up (that is an actual spell and what it actually does). Pity the quests aren't ;)

The night of the election one man in Kenya was quoted in a local paper as saying "This has restored my faith in democracy." U.S. politicians sometimes talk about bringing democracy to the world. Maybe now they can lead by example and bring about lasting change to some places once people's cynicism has been soothed somewhat. No, he's not The Messiah (insert Monty Python joke here ____ ), but his election could be a source of inspiration to some worldwide.

I think he already has changed their lives. You've got to realize that for many of them this is their first "Wow, that could be me or my child someday" moment.

in the end their expectations and hopes will devour obama

It is all so very sad. In a country where their own elected politicians live a life of luxurious kleptocracy, people expect an American president to save them. Damn! Just damn!

Good point. And very sad indeed. I'm afraid that China has more power over their future right now than the U.S.A. :(

I was a first-time voter, too, but for different reasons. I didn't catch "Obama fever", but I ultimately voted for him, anyway. More out of Bush fatigue than anything else.
