The last Republican Mayor in STL left around the time Truman was nuking Hiroshima. Today, Hiroshima is a bustling, prosperous metropolis. Meanwhile, STL as lost 2/3 of its population and is a decaying shithole chock full of murder, rape and robbery.

Conclusion: Having Democrats run your town is more destructive than having a nuclear weapon dropped on it.

That's not the sort of thing for which a Dem-run city government can reasonably be blamed. They have the city they have to work with, and its prosperity depends on factors beyond the control of a city government. If Dems run a poor city, they are elected to run it because it is poor. We've been over this before.

STL was once one of the most prosperous and growing cities around. Then -purely by coincidence! - Democrats made it a one-party town and now it's a cesspit of crime, poverty, decay and hopelessness. See Also: Detroit.

Not in the least. I've watched the antics of City Hall for decades and the zeal that the Democrat Party has for destroying anything that it doesn't utterly control is boundless. They have done nothing but pursue gold-plated vanity projects that enrich their friends and empower themselves at everyone's expense, as the population flees, the landscape is taken over by criminals and businesses implode from the loss of customers and predations of those same criminals.

There is only so much a city government can do. That of Detroit, e.g., could nothing at all to arrest the decline in auto-industry jobs, nor white flight to the 'burbs.
