Just interested in other members views and experiences at a nude or naturalist site. Just went to my first today. Got the sunburn to prove it. A very nice resort in PA (USA). The people were very pleasant. ANd a nice mix of ages/ fitness levels and body types. Just didn't get any sort of erotic vibe. I guess thats not what it is about but I thought there would be a little something.

Anyway I'd be interested to hear what others think.

I wouldn't know because I've never been to one. I'm pretty sure I'd be perfectly fine with it, though, because I don't really like clothes and I'm quite the exhibitionist, anyway.

You were expecting something erotic? With all those naked strangers around of all 'ages/fitness levels and body types'?

Seriously though, you say they were pleasant people and presumably 'all ages' refers to the fact that it may have been a family resort, involving kids. It's not meant to be erotic at all, but more an expression of freedom, liberation from clothing and all the possible judgements it invites. Ask yourself... did you enjoy that aspect of it?

Go again and next time just enjoy not thinking about naked flesh, but feeling free. Sorry, I know it sounds a little 'hippy dippy', but that's always been my experience of it, but that's on European beaches, so I don't know if the attitude and expectation in the U.S. is different.

Just getting some fresh cool breeze on your butt is enough to make it enjoyable.

yes - from my own exp. its not meant to be erotic - have gone to many beaches etc in Europe - it just a cool way to walk around with just a pair of shoes on. Very liberating too...

Once or twice while half asleep on the beach I found myself day dreaming or having erotic thoughts - its was time to turn over on the sand and hide the little man, certainly did not want to have an erection on display - thats very very uncool when in a nudist area.

I was once even filmed for TV in Germany in Munich while naked ! Poor German viewers... had to watch a milk white naked paddy on TV.

You're not gonna get any 'erotic' vibe from a nudist resort, because they're not focused on sexual encounters. It's just a place where naked people hang out, literally. Hookups are not the primary issue on the brain. You're gonna need a sex resort for that sort of thing.

So then where do we get our ideas about modesty? In some ways the nudist I met were the most modest people of all since nothing about their bodies was sexualized. By acting modest and covering up some of our bodies do we then sexualize them and create the very thing we are trying to avoid?

Follow up question how do I invite my SO to go with me? She is very modest in a traditional sense and I fear she would be shocked to learn I ever went to a nude resort. She has a lot of body issues that I think could be helped by being at such a place. Or is this a really bad idea? Also a really big thanks to those who commented. I've often felt most of my posts and comments went unread.

Actually, that's the irony of it. Making sex and nudity taboo actually increases the interest in it.

I like nude beach where people hanging around without any dresses. especially nude bitches on a nude resort that would be awesome. I am just thinking that what would i do if i got that many girls at a time in nude

I'm going to have to reiterate what everyone else said: nudist beaches is about nudity, about having the option of wearing clothes, not about eroticism. The two are not necessarily inclusive. At least in Europe, a body is a body and everyone has one, so what? Furthermore, many nudists beaches and resorts are family oriented: everyone from toddlers to great-grandmothers are running around in their birthday suits, and nobody really gives a damn.

Detailing a brief history lesson of the roots where the idea of modesty is connected to sex and nudity can prove to be boring and complex, because Aristotelean thought has to be included along with Augustinian philosophy and culminated with Calvin's theology and the revival in the Victorian era, which greatly influenced societal conventions of North America. Suffice to say, the idea goes back to the Graeco-Roman world and the idea that whatever is matter (i.e. body) is lesser than spirit, and what is not of the spirit is inferior.

Bottom line, each society defines what being modest means. Covering does not equate to avoidance: as Infinity said, by making it taboo and consciously avoiding it increases the attraction of it.
