My father just sent me a video clip forwarded to him by a friend up north. It is supposedly an advert for a car called a Ford Sportka in which a cat is decapitated by the sunroof.

How can anyone think this is funny?

Cat

Oh and by the way, it was headed by the title of a solution to cat problems.

Because the people who make up urban legends usually go for the gross out factor or the fear factor, I guess.

Oh I know this isn't an actual advert. It would get Ford sued in a heartbeat.

The video itself made me cringe. It looks real enough, although I don't know of a sunroof motor powerful enough to decapitate an animal.

According to Snopes, it IS an actual Ford ad. But a rejected one that then leaked to the net. (Or that Ford leaked to the net ti get viral marketing spin, possibly.) There's another one too with a pidgeon getting whacked.

The person who came up with these ideas needs to get his head stuffed in the sunroof.

If you like cats then you do not want to watch it.

Agreed.

Very sad that some one regards such an ad as funny or useful.

Indeed. It looks very real and very disturbing. Although I know it's fake, it makes me cringe.

I think I saw it once, an d I will NOT be looking to see it again. I hate ads like that.

Where was/is the Humane Society and PETA when crap like this goes down?

Disgusting. This may encourage some nutjob to try it for real.

All Ford needs now is a boycott, their sales already suck.

Serve em' right tho.

I've seen that ad too. Not funny for so many reasons.

I find it totally incredible that the idea made it through to the point of the ad being made before anyone thought it might be a bit wrong...

Says a lot for the advertising and marketing industry.

Ethics is a secondary, often tertiary consideration in the our world starkkers.

Sucks, doesn't it?

I'm saying that a lot recently.

Killing cats for sport? Oh no, wait, for Sportka! Most commercials offend your intelligence. It's surprising when they offend the heart.

This has been haunting me so I have to reply - it's preposterous! And I wasn't aware there were any such things as "cat problems" other than maybe mean dogs - and now Fords! Never did like Fords - now I know why! (And they sure don't have 9 lives!) :catroar: MEOW

I can't believe that anybody would make an actual commercial like this. Maybe is's some kind of spoof commercial, like they used to do on Saturday Night Live. Whatever, it's sick and revolting.

I've seen the video. I wasn't disgusted by it, but it wasn't funny. Maybe I wasn't bothered by it because I really hate cats. But more to the point, was because it was obviously fake. Nothing to be upset over, in my opinion. If this bothers you I don't see how anyone could go about a whole day out in the world.
