For starters, there is no resume of mine in the universe that has the email address that this notice came to on it.

So I have to ask myself - did some moron just mistype their own email address? Or is someone trying to screw me by sending something controversial through an official channel with my email address appended to cause mayhem?

Will be interesting to see how this one plays out...

processing times may exceed 14 working days. You may assume that your
resume was successfully processed unless you receive notice from us to the
contrary.

In order to receive consideration for Resumix vacancies, you must show

I have experienced much the same thing. Sometimes you get an email addressed to someone else (for some reason I get a lot of martial arts stuff.) I usually forward it to the recipient, but I always wonder, error or hack?

or virus?

I would do a virus scan just to make sure the attachment or message didn't carry something into your pc.

:)

This looks like it came from some sort of government agency or a branch of the civil service doesn't that explain it all?

Miss, there is no danger there - it is only a text message, but my PC automatically scans all incoming messages for a virus at the time of download.

Sin, the odd thing is that the "recipient" is MY email address and I know I didn't submit a resume with that email address on it.

CG, it's from the Department of Defense and it's acknowledging the submission of a resume. Nothing sinister in and of itself, but it makes me wonder what the resume contained that triggered the response.

It looks like a standard form letter. Your resume has been accepted and is under review blah blah. I would guess it was a typo on the part of some half awake government employee that caused it to end up in your inbox. All though it might be amusing to see if you could get them to send you a copy of the original resume to see what it said.
