While visiting my place for the first time this season my father started asking me questions about my bike. Year and Model to be exact. When I told him he started smiling. Then he explained.
Last year one of his neighbors picked up a bike and decided to mod it. He took it apart down to the frame. After storing everything in boxes he cut the frame with the intention of lowering and stretching it. He never got beyond that stage in his modifications. Now he just wants to get rid of the bike. (Yes he does have the paperwork.) He mentioned this to my father while my father was doing some work on his car.
The bike is a year newer model than mine is. It is exactly the same. (Mine is a 1981 and this bike is a 1982.) It was stock and in nice shape when the guy got it.
My father told me that he is going to get hold of the guy tomorrow and ask him if the offer still stands. If it does he'll accept the bike and store it at his place until I can get up there.
Now this would be nice. I would have a whole engine to completely rebuild then replace mine with, not to mention all sorts of spare parts. We're talking a complete rebuild for my bike in a couple of boxes. (I can easily get rid of the frame as I don't need it.)
