The wife read and enjoyed the trilogy, however, like others here thought it was a bit cheesy. The thought of the Dom/sub relationship turned her on greatly.

So the question now is what are you all reading in this genre that has a realistic flare to it? She tried the Anne Rice trilogy and didn't really care for it.

it's difficult to find realistic BDSM or D/s scenarios in novels, because we all want to live within our fantasies-- since we mostly cannot, we write them instead.

One writer from the nineties who writes very hot and very realistic BDSM sex, was Pat Califia. She was at the time a butch dyke and that's mostly what she wrote. It won't be the kind of girl on girl you might be used to! But it IS realistic and possible stuff. (Since then Pat has transitioned to male)

I got this list from someone in this forum-- I can't find the original, please forgive me and someone point me back to it if you know:eek:

I find the plots a touch formulaic, but Cherise Sinclair tells a good story, and the D/s - BDSM is realistic and reasonable.

that's the toughie, because every dynamic is in it's own way , unique, whereas Shades is a typical chick book, with more graphic language.

and every chick book is, in its own way, unique. :D

Most of them actually use far more graphic language than 50 Shades -- famous for calling a pussy "down there" :D

Joey Hill has a way with the written word. Your wife can go to storywitch.com and see if anything appeals.

The devil is always in the details.

Me, I love an honest god slut, fist her every couple of hours, nothing but warm holes to cum in, I can definitely trip on that, given the prostrate situation, it's pure compassion on her part, from my POV - she gets off when I piss on er face? Not a problem, small price to pay, and godamn if I wont take her out to dinner afterwards.

With a buttplug in.

Think about it.

If she can suck a beer out of pinhole in seven seconds flat, but she's anal retentive bitch?

Fuck 'er.

'Course, if anything, guys are more persnickety than women, so mileage may vary, that's all, just practical advice to innocent bystanders, possibly the stressor behind erotic plasticity.

Bored are ya Stella? You know I can keep this shit up for months, till I get bored.

And I prefer "cootchie" - or "sloppy loose ass cunt".

Naw, I'm loving your rants. I'm C&P-ing them into a file for writing reference.

But you will feel better when you get your meds balanced out, you know. Manic episodes are only fun for a while.

Try some of the Laura Lee books, some pretty good D's/BD-SM stuff in some of them.....

There are some excellent suggestions on here but if she’s coming from Shades of Gray and didn’t like the Beauty trilogy she’s probably not going to like the Gor books and Cherise Sinclair might be a little too BDSM lifestylely too soon.

I know you said she’s looking for something “realistic” but do you really read erotica for realistic? For that I just go back to that pile of literary fiction next to the bed. I’m going to go ahead and assume by realistic she meant “darker” and will not read like the author has never met a man before.

So I’d go with Mercy by Kitty Thomas. IMO her writing is solid, the characters are well rounded and truthfully it bears similarities to Shades of Gray if the heroine in Shades did not cry and accuse him of wanting to “hurt” her every 35 seconds. Also, there is a satisfying dearth of gasping over lip-biting etc. (Bleh).

I screwed up, it is Lora Leigh, not laura lee *grr*...I recommend to those looking for erotic romance, try the ellorascave website (www.ellorascave.com), they have a taboo section that is BD/SM themed (most M/f, but I hear they are F/, as well). Goodreads (www.goodreads.com) has book lists for people into BD/SM that might help, too.

I agree, writers like Pat Califia, Laura Antonio, the Gor books and so forth are not great introductions, they assume the person is seriously into this stuff where someone might be looking for erotica rather then hardcore.
