I would like to see a section added to Chyoo that would accommodate a longer story, basically a serial novel. This would still allow the choose your own path feature of Chyoo, but would allow for longer chapters to be written. The idea would be for several authors to work together to create a novella length story, each one adding an entire chapter, I'm think 5K to 10K words long that would allow for much more back story to be created and hopefully develop the characters developed more fully.

I think it would be a fun and interesting project to do in addition to the short bursts that most stories write now. Obviously I could do this now, but by putting this type of story in its own new section, like the non-English, or non-erotic stories are, it would highlight the difference in approach.

It's probably just me, but I tend to become daunted by overly long reads. I like having things separated into portions so that I can read it at my leisure. You can still make long, detailed stories, it'll just be separated more often than a chapter. You can take each post as a page in the story and not accept entries that are less than 250-500 words, that way you get the depth you desire while not making the posts overly long to read.

It's an interesting idea. But I think with the format of Chyoo, it would never work here. It would be like the non-erotic section with it's 10 stories since the begining of time. Personally I enjoy the smaller protions like Artican does. It is rare to see threads now that exceed 500 words... Most of the submissions I get for my story tend to be around 200- 250 words, which just isn't enough. A real thread can't be that short without leaving out a lot of details and meat. I am still waiting on one writer to re-write his thread and re-submit it. It's looking like that might not happpen though. We'll see. And a message for another Chyoo'er... Deathofcards, if you happen to read this, please add the last threads you wrote for Secret Agent, Sarah Banks.

Its not like Non-erotic, because... well... it is erotic.

I can understand artican being daunted by overlong threads. But that again is an argument for a seperate section. We get daunted because we are not used to them. If they have a section of their own, you only need to go there if that is the kind of story that you want to read.

There are a number of long threaders out there - not Jake's 5-10Ks, but Kendahl & Zingiber regularly write 1000+ words (and so do I quite often).

I say we don't wait for a separate section, that would take forever. I'm going to give it some thought and just put a story in place. Count on me to add a chapter or three to your effort and let's see what happens.
