Rudy would never wear this crap...

At the very least they can lose and be over rated in the dignity of tradition. But this throw up?

the jersey looks ok, but the helmet looks like shit. Looks like a peewee football helmet.

Rudy was a below average student and way below average player who whined his way onto the practice squad and got to play in one play at the end of an already decided and meaningless game. I get so sick and fucking tired of people holding him up as some kind of college football hero. He was nothing. The only reason they even made a movie about him is because he wouldn't stop fucking flapping his lips about how he played for Notre Dame.
Fuck him. Fuck Notre Dame, too. Bunch of overrated assholes with a money following coach.

You mean like Meyer?

Have fun with our reject. Last I checked Tebow plays for NY and is the only reason Meyers was good.

But yes, Norte Dame sucks and I have no idea why they get any coverage at all...

If Meyer were not a Buckeye at heart I would say he was following the money but he simply came home. However I have to say that I was not a huge fan of the decision to hire him. I think they went with a big name who might help everyone forget the second greatest coach in school history. That makes me sad but I understand why they did it.

I grew up literally a few miles from the ND campus. Because of that I have a special hatred for them but I will acknowledge when they have good players/teams/coaches. I gotta be fair about that.

Have not even paid attention. Did the turn coat recruit well for you?

Because they seem to have a huge following of fans and that's why they get the tv contract. They're playing a game in Ireland this year and they have over 30,000 fans going to the game. That's why they get invited to bowl games over better teams. Their fans travel and spend money. Capitalism.

It's rare that I can say that I strongly disagree with you about something, but this is one of those times. Rudy worked his ass off. His is a story of perseverance in the face of adversity, of dreaming big and making those dreams a reality.

I agree with both of you on this to a certain degree.

One of the few movies that makes me tear up. That , Field of Dreams, and Rocky 1-5.

There's a Litster who is close to the heart of the matter. I'm waiting to see if he's going to chime in.

I agree with you in that the movie inspires what you said. I think she is probably a little closer to how it went down in real life. You are probably both representing the opposite extremes with the truth in the middle somewere.....

Hoosiers is a great movie. Possibly the greatest sports movie ever made. It is inspiring and heart string tugging at its very best. A real life David vs. Goliath. Except you know what? It's not what really happened. Milan High School was favored to win because it wasn't their first rodeo. They didn't have a tiny squad because nobody wanted to play, they had a full squad of seasoned players. The coach was not threatened with being fired. He was beloved by the entire town.
Movies have a way of changing things.

Come on, really? We all know the best sports movie is "Slapshot"!

The new uniforms suck. Another thing they've gotten wrong lately.

With regards to Rudy…Hollywood has and always will take literary license when doing movies about real life events. Hoosiers, The Blind Side, Remember the Titans, Rudy, and the list goes on. Yes, the only reason the movie got made was because he pushed years for it. What the hell is wrong with that? I think it is fair to say that is true about just about every movie made, someone wanted it made and pushed to get it to happen. Not every movie is pushed as hard, but they all have a supporter.

It seems people either love Notre Dame or hate them. Not too many on the fence. NBC makes money whether you tune in to watch them win or lose. It seems that some here have a history there and that's their reason for hating them. Fair enough. I too have a history and don't hate them. We are all entitled to our opinions. One thing I can say without it being an opinion (because I was there), the real Rudy was not a gifted athlete but his heart was as big as the movie portrays. The jersey scene, never happened (Rudy himself has attested to this, Hollywood). Carried off the field, absolutely. (I was there)

Signed, Farrah's friend

The stereotyped Irishman on the helmet is really offensive.

We should have it removed.

Like the Fighting Sioux...
