Not sure this really belongs here, but seeing its discussing a series here and this is where readers who are on the boards tend to come, I'd try it here.
I get several comments, private feedbacks a week about my four part series Mother Son confessions and when it will be continuing. Most are friendly little prompts, others are getting borderline obnoxious.
So I am using this thread to make the announcement that odds are that series is dead where it stands. I wrote it last year and was a ball of fire with it. Then some real life shit came up, I didn't get back to it and once I left it I lost the 'feel'.
Technically I have the ideas and where it can go, but no motivation to write it and I have lost the characters. That's important for me because I always try to create real people that readers can get invested in. If I can't feel the character the reader will not be able to.
All writers are different with different mind set, process, and what they want here. Personally I refuse to half ass a story to satisfy the readers. If I've lost it, I have lost it. This series and whatever feeling and drive behind it was lost when real life knocked me from the path.
I won't say never. Who knows, maybe just as the original story clicked into my head, the rest will eventually follow. But it has not happened in the last year and not happening now.
So if you're waiting for it. Sorry, but you're wasting your time. If you seen it and haven't started it? Don't because it is not finished. Although it is worth mentioning each chapter features different characters and does tell a story so it can still be entertaining.
I know this will attract some snark, especially from my personal troll and self righteous greatest author of all time(in their minds) but fact is? This is a free site and I owe no one anything. I know that sounds like a bad attitude, but its one I occasionally feel pushed to by greedy readers who get blatantly rude about things like this as if I'm paid to entertain and as I said owe them something. Many of these people can't be bothered to take two seconds to vote, but I owe you my hard work? Nope.
But what I do feel I owe readers and myself is a sincere effort. There are people here who brag of their hundreds of stories. But their stories are cardboard mechanical assembly line stories with all the emotion of Mr Spock. I invest myself and my passion into all my stories. Does not mean they are all great, but they are again sincere. If I can't feel it then its an insult to myself and the readership. Unlike others I aim for quality over quantity and care more about what the stories in my file are as opposed to how many I have.
For those regular readers of mine who do vote and comment. Well this thread is for you because I feel to you, I do owe something, and that is a simple explanation and to tell you not to get your hopes up.
Sometimes life just doesn't work out exactly as we like. I thought of removing the four chapters so people don't sit around looking for more, but again, the four sections on here are entertaining (I think anyway) and can be read as stand alone stories, the characters just don't connect and meet down the line which was the original plan.
