Hellooo--

So, I have this story idea i was thinking of putting on Lit but it has a chapter that doesn't have much sex in it...would it be weird to still put it on lit? Does anyone read non-sexy stories here?

Plenty of readers put story before sex. There is even a non-erotic category...

Some of my stories have no sex, or only implied sex, and I haven't put them in the Non-Erotic category.

Some readers might be rude if there is no sex in a chapter; but some readers will be rude anyway.

No, it needn't be all sex all the time. Some of the top-rated series here feature almost-sexless introductory or intermediary chapters. A sexless introduction is mandatory for, say, a journal series that starts with an underage narrator. In other storylines, a time may pass where the characters just ain't getting any, or they're setting-up for chapters of future fuckfests. Some stories in LW have NO sex, instead concentrating on dramatic consequences. So just tell your tale.

It depends upon the category, like most everything else here.

Some categories are more friendly toward no-sex chapters - Romance, Sci-Fi&Fantasy, Non Human, Non Erotic ( obviously )

The categories tied into a specific sexual fetish less so.

LW is friendly to nothing.

There is no requirement that every chapter have sexual content. Some readers expect that, but many are comfortable with sexless chapters. Very long stories often have chapters without sex. You may get blow back from some readers, but most will let it slide if it's well-written and the story is good.

One of my stories here is a 5-pager with about two paragraphs of vaguely-described sex, and I haven't had any complaints about that.

It's not so much 'the sex', but how well you tell the tale.

I even write them. ;)

I already did this---^ and it worked out alright. Just put each chapter in the correct category and you will be fine.

I agree.

For example, despite the overwhelming heap of frat house flatulence comedy movies made each year none of them are regarded as anything more than a chuckle in time while all the classic comedies eschewed the temptation to make the quick joke or slapstick jape in favor of building the tension throughout the picture before springing the joke later. Those have us falling out of our seats breathless despite seeing it coming all along. And keep us returning for a laugh years later.

In the same way, building to, even if it takes whole chapters, sexually explicit scenes with non-erotic passages heightens the over all effect and makes the final encounter far more satisfying.

That would be totally fine. It's what I do!

I'm writing a sci-fi/fantasy series. Including the chapter I'm writing now, there hasn't been a sex scene in 60,000 words. That's roughly 18 pages in literotica. In total, the story has only had four sex scenes - three, if you consider that one such moment ends one chapter and begins another.

There does seem to be a convention of putting a note in italics at the beginning of the story indicating that it will be focusing on plot, rather than sex. I'd recommend you do that. It's a polite and effective way to redirect those that are just looking for something to use as fuel for immediate personal stimulation.
