Madison crawled into bed, she had promised herself she wasn't going to cry but her eyes were red and puffy from tears. It had seemed to promising this morning, planning her fairy tale wedding. Now it was all gone, ripped apart and tramped on. Her ex fiance, who she had wasted five years of her life on, called off the wedding because he wanted to explore his attraction to men. It took a lot of will power for Madison not to blame the gay community, but she slowly realized that she should have seen it coming and that it was his fault and no one else's. If she had been the type she would have told his mother, but she had been so stunned that she just up and left, leaving others to cancel what arrangements had been made.

She looked at her hands seeing the tan line her engagement ring had left behind. She had handed it over without him asking and now she was exactly what she never wanted to be, 30 and alone.

"I hate fairy tales, and fairy godmothers, and the promise of happily ever, even if your life is rough." She bemoaned into the pillow surprised that there were still tears left to be cried.

She woke up feeling sunshine on her face, she sat up and looked around. She was no longer in her own bed, or even her own bedroom. The bed was made of beautiful old fashioned oak. The room appeared to be made of stone, and when she put her hand to her head she realized her hair was much longer. She swung her feet off the bed and realized she was wearing a frilly white nightgown. She headed to the long mirror in the oval frame and stared at her reflection. Her dark brown hair fell past her waist in soft waves, the thin nightgown revealed that her body was much the same. Except she felt younger, and looking closer she realized that her skin was firmer smoother.

If it was a dream, then she certainly was determined to enjoy it. She noticed an envelope on the dressing table with her name written on it in fancy script and was drawn to it. She opened it slowly and was shocked by its contents.

Dearest Madison

I know I have failed thee as a fairy godmother, for I have been unable to break the curse laid upon thee. I hope that you shall benefit from a fresh start in this land where miracles and magic are real. Unfortunately in order to accomplish this wonder I had to collapse your old life.

I hope you find what you desire,

Your fairy godmother,
Enchantra
