I don't believe it is out yet. If it is, it just came out. My fiance and I were looking at it a week ago and it said they were taking pre-orders. We think it looks great! We'll have to see if we get one. I'm not sure I'm ready to part with paper and ink, but if I do, it'll be for the Nook!

I ordered one the first day it was available to pre-order. I bought it for my Mom for her birthday. It will be delivered by the end of Nov. I got an email last week saying that new pre-orders will be delivered by mid-Dec. If anyone is thinking of giving or getting one for Christmas I would advise pre-ordering one now.
My sister has gone through 2 Kindles. We think the Nook wil be better. I guess my mother will find out. If it is, I will be asking for one for my birthday.

My advice would be to check what formats the Nook will be able to use. In the past month, three books I've wanted have only been available in one format. If you're tied to one specific format, you may be out of luck with books you want. I ended up buying a netbook for my e-books because I wanted to be able to read many different formats.
Also, are you able to save a back up of your books to a jump drive or your desktop? This was one of my peeves with the Kindle. You don't really own the books, you can't transfer them, they're still the property of Amazon (they have removed books from Kindles without notifying customers).
I love my netbook, it currently has over 4000 books on it and the battery is good for 7 hours.
