I apologize if this has been answered but I can't seem to find my problem addressed in the FAQ or Blank manual. Also I hope this doesn't come across as vulgar. If it does, let me know and I'll edit this.

So I figure one day I'll meet the older couple that will be glad to take a younger lad under their wing but I figured first I'd need to work on being a bottom, lest it end up a dismal failure before things can take off.

I have read the anal manuals and anal guides, and believe I have taken the appropriate steps but I feel now that I am stuck. In more ways than one. I have recently bought a vibrating butt plug and plenty, plenty, PLENTY of lube. I believe that it is the average .5" tip and 1.5" base. Well with patience, breathing and relaxation, I can get it in (hooray for the Noob!). I turn it on to vibe and manage to keep it in (double hoorays are in order, perhaps...no?). Well the sensation is great and I love it. So naturally I figured, it's time for a dildo. Well I bought a 6" dildo with suction cup to try and see how I do. So this is where I run into my problem.

Where as my butt plug slides in effortlessly, I can't seem to get past the head of the dildo in. I use my butt plug to relax me, and with plenty of lube I try the dildo. I can't seem to fit in more than an inch inside! I honestly don't get it, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. If a 4" long butt plug goes inside, why won't a flexible realistic dildo go in?! I'm a bit discouraged right now. A lot of sites say that not everyone can do it. It's starting to look that way for me right now but was wondering if people have any tips or technique or have experienced this type of "plateau"?

There is a second sphincter inside the anus. Maybe your butt plug is not long enough to have made you come across a second area of resistance, whereas the dildo is. Or the shape of the butt plug (given that I have just re-read your post and you have said how long the plug is) is such that it encourages easier entry.

If the issue is the second sphincter then you just need to proceed as with the first; loads of lube, relaxation and gentle pressure - no forcing. It should eventually relax and allow access.

They are made of different materials, no?
Yes, the butt plug is very smooth material and is very slippery. The dildo on the other hand is made of a more life like material, has a life like head and ribbing(?) around the head. I was aiming for something kinda realistic.

I was considering this. When I insert the butt plug, I'm usually on my side or on all fours with my head down and read elevated. Could there be a better position? I'm also wondering a few things:

1. The small ribs and material are creating too much friction even with lube and I can't go past my sphincter.

2. My ass is not "deep" enough.

3. Need more lube.

4. Need a real dick in there (lol)

I understand that the rectum bends(?) so I'm wondering maybe I'm hitting the curve there?

the two things I would recommend are:

1. Slip a condom on the dildo to change the texture to something more slippery (non-ribbed/studded of course). Also good for hygiene when doing anal play.

2. Try a different lube. I have found a product called Albolene is great for that kind of play (its marketed as a makeup remover but boy does it work for anal play). A good silicone lube designed for anal would be high on the list as well.

If you can get four inches of butt plug in but only one inch of dildo then I don't think the issue can be a bend in the rectum. Even if it bent at four inches you would be able to get four inches of dildo in before encountering problems.

I suspect it has much to do with the shape and material of the dildo and agree with the suggestion to try using a condom on it, plus trying a different lube and using way more than you would think. And I mean way, way more.

If you are worried about a physical inability to take the length of the dildo then an easy way to check that out is to get a much narrower. smoother toy and see how far that goes in.

I think that it really is the dildo. I'll go and try something smoother and thinner. I feel like I really need to try and get a feel for the in and out sensation. It's a bit of a shame, I really looked forward to trying out the suction cup and going hands free. Oh well...

I agree with the previous from Scrubber. Start with something smaller, lots of lube, make sure that works for you then work your way up.

One other suggestion, something I've found to be extremely helpful, especially for anal play, is what's called a Lube Shooter (probably a brand name). Kind of a syringe that helps put lube exactly where it's needed.

I've seen the lube shooter before. That was going to be my next question. So when people say use lots of lube, I out a lot of lube on the butt plug, and the dildo. However I feel as if most of the lube collects outside as I push the plug or dildo in. I'm guessing that the lube shooter helps with that.

I'll keep you all posted on my success or failure. I haven't had a chance to get anything new so I'm just trying browse online and see what Toy I'd like to buy.

I've been considering a thin' six in vibrator. Any other suggestions?
