I expect to find works that are romantic. I think works that are sensual, but not necessarily sexual would be in nor-erotic.
After looking through the section, I found it's more broader in scope. I wonder if works that have sexual undertones, but not explicit sex should be in erotic.
I'd like to see a third category in poetry based on the kind that are currently there. I think romantic/relationship category would narrow the focus and give the reader a greater sign post for what kind of poems she can find in a section.
Personally, daughter, I'd like to see some structure to the whole poetic system. If you go into erotic poems you have a long list, with no idea of what you are getting into.
Is this lesbian? vampiric? perhaps something kinky?
Is it a sonnett? freeverse? sestina?
Instead it's dropped into a very large "bucket" where folks are left to fish for something fitting thier personal tastes. I think the easiest way to enhance the readership of poetry is to make it easier for the reader to find what they are looking for in thier poetry. The same could be said for non-erotic, is it a love poem? philosophical? whimsical? haunting? and so on.
The simple lack of a description line does alot to limit the ability of the reader to know what to expect.
Non-erotic is a catch all for stories that aren't meant to be or aren't arousing. I have one non-erotic story. It's mostly sex though. Non-erotic covers everything that isn't erotic, which is a lot of ground. It's all lumped together because, face it, everyone comes here for sex stories, not fiction.
I don't expect anything from a non-erotic story, beyond the fact that it will not be arousing. I do expect a higher degree of "quality writing" in the non-erotic than I do from the rest of the stuff. The reason is that I'm reading it solely for its "literary" merit.
