Do people actually read the non-erotic stories on Lit? I wrote a story for my wife two years ago that I just found and reread. I'd forgotten how good it was...not that I'm biased or anything though. It is a love story about how two people meet. There are a few love/sex scenes in it, but nothing like what you would see in a normal Lit story. I want people to read it, but don't know where to put it. Plus it is really long...20,000 words. Any thoughts?

Put it in Romance or Erotic Couplings, my opinion.

NOT in loving wives, NOT EVARRR. That category title is a lie.

What is EVARRR? I'm leaning towards romance because the sex really isn't a main point. Just a spice to it. Is 20,000 words long for something to post here?

Yes, there are readers for nonerotic here--and stories in that category can get high ratings. If you have a sex scene, though, it's not a nonerotic story (unless you did a really lousing job of writing the scene).

I think it has one big scene, not pornographic, but it is descriptive. There are a few others where it is clear what they are about to do...and then it jumps to afterwards. If I get rid of the big sex scene and leave the almost sex scenes, would it be able to be in the romance category? That really is what it is. I'd hate for it to be in an erotic section and have it get bad ratings just because people are pissed that there isn't any real sex.

There is plenty of sex in the Romance section.

That's a a funny notion, really-- that Romance means "no sex.'

If it's a really good love story, I expect you'll do fine in the Romance category. With Romance it doesn't seem to be the level of sex that identifies it, but whether there's an actual love story surrounding it (and if it's any good).

And with 20,000 words, you could post it all in one hit but it might work better as two 3-Lit-page-length chapters instead.

Romance means "I'm very interested in having sex with you, but I don't want to sound like a single-minded sleaze ball by telling you outright. For now."

That makes me feel better. I think that I am a pretty romantic guy and yet still enjoy sex. I think the more romance, the better the sex. Shhhhh....don't tell anyone though. They'll revoke my guy card.;)

Your REAL MAN card might make up for that loss...
