I am currently posting my novel Honey, Cinnamon and Lemons in instalments. So far posted ch 1-8; 9-10 and 11-12. Reasonable voting scores. My novel is pretty vanilla, but tries to present believable characters who love and lust and think. Am I wasting my time here, where there seems to be a huge audience for masturbation stimulus? I'd be very grateful for experienced opinions. Thank you all.

No, I don't think you are wasting your time.
To my mind, a good story is literate; the erotica stuff is an addition (sometime you get BOTH!).

Keep at doing what you enjoy; - writing !

Anyone who is concerned about the size of the audience for a story at Literotica should repeatedly remind himself/herself that it's all relative. The Literotica readership, overall, is huge, and the fact that some audiences might be bigger than yours doesn't mean yours isn't big enough to warrant writing and publishing the story here. Don't ever get cowed by the size of the readership for simple masturbation stories. There are plenty of readers who want a lot more than that -- lots and lots and lots of them.

And, as RubenR pointed out, the real issue is whether you enjoy publishing stories here. If you enjoy it, that's what matters.

Honey, Cinnamon and Lemons.

Thanks, Ruben, Handley and Simon. I enjoy posting here because I find the fact that I am being read encourages me to continue. Having written my first novel (Whoremaster (56)) I was forced to write a sequel, as the characters can't be left in limbo. WM was extremely explicit, but its real theme was passionate love, not dispassionate sexual gratification. Writing is a lonely business, and receiving comments from people like you, or stars from unknown people, is encouraging. And, committing myself to release chapters makes me think very hard about their power to grab people's attention and to hold it. Thanks everyone.

You've already gotten some very good advice, so I'll just add that I write what I am called to write. Sometimes that includes people fucking. Sometimes it doesn't.

I don't have a huge following here, but the readers I have are loyal and I deeply appreciate them. I don't decide if what I've written is worth the time by the size of the audience, but by whether or not I have given quality work to those who do me the favor of reading it.

This, a hundred times this.

I have two very personal story chapters on this site; each has just over 4k Views, and I know that everyone of those reads was from someone who "wanted to know what happened in the end." There are hardly any comments, but those there are "got" it completely. The silent readers might have been moved, if the overall score is anything to go by.
