Non-erotic fantasy questions

I am trying my hand at a storyline that I have had in my head for a while, of a non-erotic nature. It is best described as medieval fantasy, but I have run into some roadblocks in trying to map out some of the details (it's not easy creating an entire world!). I have tried finding a forum for fantasy writers, but nothing compares to Lit, so I am going to ask the fine people here if I can pick their brains. Does anyone on the board consider themselves knowledgable in this genre, or in medieval life? If so, I'd like to bounce a few questions off of you.

I can't help but maybe you could check out who posts to the Online Role Playing forum here at Lit and send email requests for help to some of them? It might work, too, if you posted your request right there in the ORP Forum.

Good luck.

I'm studying medieval stuff right now. I don't know a lot, but I do know enough that I might be able to point you to a place that can tell you what you want to know.

My Solomon Magus stories are "medieval fantasy" and
I also play AD&D. I'd be glad to try and answer any
questions if I can.

I do...
As a matte of fact I have quite a collection of references for daily living in "Medieval", classical Greco- Roman, Ancient Egyptian, Sumerian, Pre-Columbian South American and the 'Shogun' periods of Japan. I also have references on most major mythologies, deamonologies and some religious rites (Indian, Greco-Roman, Jewish, Mesopotamian, Chinese folklore, European folklore both pre-Christian and post-Christian).. If there's something I don't know or have access too I'd probably want to buy it anyway.

I'd love to help you.
Drop me an e-mail or post here.

SoftPeaches,

In front of me on the desk I have a copy of a book which you might try to find:

'The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life in the Middle Ages', sub-titled 'The British Isles from 500 to 1500'.

The author is Sherrilyn Kenyon and it was published by Writer's Digest Books in 1995.

It's a US publication, ISBN: 0-89879-663-6.

In 220+ pages it cannot be much more than an overview, but I found it useful for background.

FC

(PS: They also do 'The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life in the 1800s', by Marc McCutcheon, ISBN: 0-89879-541-9)
