I think it's fine if you imply sex, but not focusing on actual sex scenes. A lot of mainstream authors do that.

Why don't you read a few stories in the non-erot category and see what's there.

I have three pieces in that category, and there's not even a hint of erotica in any of them.

That would depend on whether the "erotic subtleties" are integral or incidental -- are they the main feature of the story or just a bit of "spice."

I do think that a story without "hard-core sex" would probably do better, ratings wise, in the non-erotic category, but it really does depend on he context of the erotic elements and the nature of the story.

I agree.

I have one that leads up to the sex, but no actual sex depicted. It's in the Romance category, so that may be another possibility.
