Hey there = )

I'm sure everyone knows about the survivor contest going on. One of the subjects I'm afraid of writing is the non-english category, since I know only a spattering of anything other than bad american english.

Are any of you fluent in another language, fluent enough that you would feel comfortable translating a story of mine into your second or first language? Please contact me if you are, or just add on to this thread. Also, if you're an English Only Speaker like me but have another suggestion, of course go ahead and post it.

Many thanks, my friends!

Chicklet

Sorry Chickie. I know a few words of French and Japanese, but not near enough to translate a story.

Good luck in the search, though.

Both really, on peut essayer à traduire en français.

Also I could translate it into good Queen's English and then you could post the translation into "loving wives" or whatever. After that you could submit the "BillGates" version as it correctly should be into "non-English". ;)

I could translate it into good Canadian English.:)

lol

- the reason i haven't responded to this thread is i *thought* i'd subscribed to it, but it seems that i had not...i thought no one had answered me <sniff>

Charm - would you be willing to help me? please please please? because I love you?

Chicklet,

Are n't you playing the thing based on the Lottery Numbers. That is how I got rid of my Non-English story.

A creative approach would be to write in dialect. I mean I could have written in Cornish dialect and been unreadable to most anyone but another Cornishman.

If you wrote in the dialect of your state is that English - I don't think so.

Hindi!!

Chicklet, I could translate it into Hindi, and do a damn good job of it too. There wouldn't be many readers though. :D

If I *ever* actually win one of those I want to get rid of Chain Stories, Novellas, and Interracial...I don't want to write something that I'd be afraid would have too many stereotypes...nonenglish seems like less of a pain in the butt.

DampPanties - Maybe not much of an audience, but I'd still love to get this done! Maybe I'll submit one nonenglish story but written in as many languages as possible so that many people can read it! = ) I'll PM you.

To be absolutely serious Chicklet, you have a problem because as I understand the rules you have to write the story in non-English, you are not allowed to get another person as a translator.

I may be wrong and would advise you to PM Laurel or KM to get a definitive answer.

I do not think it is a terrible disadvantage as most of the competitors in Survivor have English (in its many forms) as their first and in some cases only language.

Any chance that Pig Latin would be accepted as a different language??

"5) Non-English stories: Authors may collaborate and have someone else write a translation. The original story must be written by the contestant and posted in the applicable English category. "

I translated this into chickletese as meaning that i could have someone else translate one of my own stories. do you think i did that wrong? i mean, i am sort of scatterbrained...

hrrrmmm....

hopefully not as I now have a couple of wonderful, wonderful people working on translations for me <thank you thank you thank you>

Language skills offered

OK, I'm working on translating Chicklets story into my native tongue, Swedish.

Anyone else wants something translated?

I speak Swedish and English fluently, and I'm rather good at French and Spanish.

Taking requests, here! :)

French writer available for your use

I would be able to translate into French if you need another french friend.

Born and raised in Montreal, so it kinda would be fun to return to my roots...lol

PM me if ya like Chicklet!

languages

okay, I think my story is already being translated into French, Swedish and Hindi...If anyone has another language, I'd love to have it done, but I think that I shouldn't ask for another one of the same...well...maybe a different story?

may I volunteer?

My native tongue is German ... I would love to challenge my English by translating one of your stories ...

Could you translate one for me, pretty please? Ich habe nur Deutch für 2 Jahren gelesen, und Ich glaube das Ich sprache nicht gut, so Ich will nicht gerne das selbst machen.

Chinese

I could manage a sloppy Chinese translation, but I don't think that Lit will support Chinese fonts!! could put it into pinyin (romanized Chinese) though.

wie süüüüüss

Hello Svenskaflicka,

sure, I'll give it a try ... just allow me some time ... I need some time for my studies, as well ... :)

I do think YOUR translation would have its very own charm ... so cute, your accent ...

Just tell me which story.

Susan

P.S: Your AV is just the cutest! I can't wait until I get my own! :rose:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!:)

I think I'd like my first story, Room-Mating
to be translated into German.
(I hope the link works!)

There's no rush, you just translate it so that it sounds nice in German. and tell me when you're done, and I'll give you my e-mail address, OK?

Thanks! If I can do something for you in return, just ask!
