Introverted and avoiding people

I'm introverted and I avoid people. I mainly avoid eye contact and focus on my current task. I also noticed a lot of people thought my avoidance meant I thought I was better than everyone else.

I thought if they really wanted to talk to me they would approach me. However, that rarely happened.

Instead, I have to constantly approach other people if I want to meet new people. I usually just observe people. If I observe or hear something I have a comment about, I usually approach the person. They usually respond positively. However, it is probable because I'm 5'1 and people don't feel intimidated.

It is possible that someone could be interested in talking to someone. However, they predicted an encounter would end badly based on a scenario created in their mind, which results in not approaching the person.

It helps me if I don't create a scenario and just approach people and see what happens. I can evaluate the encounter later but evaluating it before it even happens just leads to missed opportunities.

I am also an introvert and I practice meeting new people and interacting so I am ready when I really want to do so. I usually just meet people and see what happens.
