Nobody ever...I mean EVER...

You can leave your hat on...

He would no doubt sing that song...

This song he did at Woodstock was his tribute to all those who had helped him along the way.

This is back when people championed people with disabilities and urged them on.

I don't see that much anymore. sad.

Joe Cocker fucking rocks....far longer than he ever lived.

That's all I got to say.

I do love Joe Cocker. Have you seen the documentary on Netflix? Its pretty good.

When I saw Randy Newman (who wrote that tune) He talked about Joe Cocker's version. He said "I play it like this [plays a few bars] He did it in this key [plays a few bars, brighter] I would have played it like that, but I didn't think of it."

Thanks Not Normal! You've given me more about this song to look into! Appreciate it!

I will have to look it up when I get home.

This was always my favorite: Up Where We Belong

Of course, that was probably more than marginally affected by my having developed a serious crush on Jennifer Warnes some 11 or 12 years prior to this performance when she whispered softly in my ear just before going onstage at the Memorial Auditorium in Lexington, KY.

I've always wondered if she was gay then, or if I had blown a stupendous opportunity by failing to say something clever. But man, that woman's perfume smelled GREAT!!:D

Never look back, Colonel...never regret. If you live in the past, you miss what is right in front of you. :)

oooh, wait! this in no way means one should dismiss brushes with notable people or negate our interactions with them!

Everything that happens in one's life has a reason. It's up to us to beat our heads against a wall trying to figure it out, or just accept, appreciate and go on to the next adventure in our lives. :)

Michael McDonald was a poor imitation.
I have Joe Cocker (and Leon Russell) stories but you wouldn't believe them so they'll remain untold.
The music lasts forever.

Glad to do it. Randy is an amazing songwriter and a very amusing and sardonic story teller.

I want to hear those stories.

Do an internet search on Skinny Puppy.

Hopefully there is some live footage. The lead singer looks like he suffers from seizures...

Can sing with the passion of Joe Cocker...

Joe Cocker was amazing.. I took my gf to see him years ago.. I surprised her with front row center tickets. He was her favorite artist. Joe Bonamassa opened, a legend in his own right.. and was incredible.

Joe Cocker came out and totally kicked ass for 90 minutes or so. When the show was over, I asked her if she wanted to go back stage and meet him. We met up with the guy running back stage.. he says we're going to let each person or couple meet Joe individually.. he says, if you wanna have a conversation with him, you'll have to initiate it because he is painfully shy. That sounded ridiculous as we'd just watched him jump around in front of 20 thousand people..

So after the obligatory drooling over him and telling him how much we enjoy his music.. he leans over to me and asks if he can kiss my gf.. I look at her and say whaddya think and of course she's honored... and excited.

So I ragged her after for making out with Joe Cocker on our date...lol

:)

It's a cool story to have in my arsenal tho.. :D

Cocker had a relatively small range but he sure knew how to use it!! :D

He was great but there were others, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, Bill Medley, Barry White, Michael McDonald, Tina Turner. To name a few.

Oh yeah, RG! Those are all greats!
