Greetings all,

I had a poem published in an anthology by Noble House. It is supposedly an anthology of American Poets. They contacted me and asked me to submit something to them. I did and they accepted.

They did inform me that there were no royalties or anything of the such forthcoming. The only thing I got out of it was that they copyrighted the poem and I could buy a copy of the book.

It sounded an awful lot like a scam, but I did it anyway, it IS Noble House. lol Well, I got my book yesterday. It is a nice collection of poetry. My question is this. My poem was the very first one in the book. Seemed odd to me. Do they have a way of putting the purchasers poem in lead space for each individual poet?

Has anyone else heard of the program by Noble House and is it legit, or just another agency trying to capitalize on people that would like to have something published?

I don't fall for the poetry.com lines, though I do post there on rare occassion. I just don't buy their books etc. But this is Noble House, it was hard for me to imagine them running a scam.

The book was around 50 bucks. There are 250 poets in it. Doesn't seem like a very profitable program if they are just trying to scam 50 bucks out of each poet.

Don't really care, it is an attractive book and some of the poems are wonderful. It just left me curious, thats all.

Would appreciate any info anyone has or opinions.

Respectfully,
Bodie

Don't know about "Noble House", but recent ads for Xerox on TV state that it is now possible to publish one book at a time on demand. I would surmise that with that technology they can also re-arrange the contents at will.
$50 x 250 = $12,500 If they can make a profit on one book, perhaps it is worth it. A lot of people would pay $50 to be published by a reputable publisher. Besides, perhaps some authors buy more than one book, or maybe their friends and families do. There are probably other twists and turns for them to make money. They may make an anthology of the "best" poems and come at you again to buy it, or even do a real run of poems they think saleable to a wider audience. And I would guess that if they ever discover a great "new" talent they will have a foot in the door with good will which might make the small profits now a worthwhile investment. - There is not much money to be made publishing poetry anyway, But they are not losing money in any event.

Check out my post on the thread: The Sad Truth About Poetry.Com. I found lots of info.

I'm glad you like the book and, more importantly, your poem--that's really the most important thing, isn't it? :)
