I don't know where you're from Randall - maybe the US. Most BB users are American. I know that in the States the word "wanker" is seen as being amusing and even kind of quaint. I've even heard it said on 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'. But in the UK it is a pretty offensive term - not far removed from being called a "mother-fucker" or a "cunt". In a British pub, the word "wanker" is liable to be followed by the sound of a pint glass being smashed against a table.
