Could you be perfectly happy (romantically - married for example) with someone and not have sex?

To Be Honest...

No, barring a very extreme circumstance. At least not indefinitely. This is assuming you mean no sexual activity (save masturbation). I might be able to go a long time, but the physical aspect of a relationship is a component, at least for me.

Once I had a relationship with someone who wouldn't even kiss me.... I must've really liked the guy cuz it lasted four months..... and then I just couldn't handle it.

later on I found out he was fighting his feelings for other men

**I'd*** kiss you, Jadedpast! I'm not fighting any feelings for other men!

:D

Geez you guys are making me all nervous here! STOP, PLEASE?

And to think I always thought that you NEVER had sex after you got married, waht a fucking relief to know I was told wrong.

WHEW! :)

Hmm... During, and after the pregnancy with baby number 2, I had no sex drive at all. (Horrible thing to have happen to you, let me tell you!) My hubby was lucky to have gotten sex at all, but I think it was only about 1 time a month, and I would complain heartily. Thank god that with this pregnancy, I have a sex drive. And then some. More like a triple sex drive from normal times.

Needless to say, Hubby is happier with this one then the last.

Gilly Bean, who patiently awaits December

:p

I think I could live without sex, as long as I could have plenty of kissing and cuddling to keep my heart happy. Of course, I might think differently if I actually had to deal with that situation.

FUCK NO! i have been trying to convince my wife of that for nine years now.

I went from having sex about ten times a week with two to three
females to having sex every month or two with one. talk about blue balls! once we were engaged she started tapering off, ie the trap was closing. as soon as we were married she forgot what bj's,sixty-nine,and eating pussy was. the only reason i get any now is because if i go with out to long i get mean. of coarse all of this is my problem not hers.

sorry about the rant... but at my age and as many timies as i have been married i should not have to hope to get lucky with my own wife.

I with you on this one Lavender. I have talked to a number of married men on the net who are disappointed in the frequency of sex and married women for that matter. Is it the pressure of being married that does this? or is it that the spouse who isn't interested anymore didn't really like sex to begin with but was on their "best behavior"?

There's probably a reasonable explanation...

I imagine I could...
Though a sudden stroke of honest has hit me and I imagine I'd start cheating.

I've actually thought ALOT about this question. Well I'm opposed to the whole celibacy thing, (and DO NOT wanna die a virgin,) I may stay with someone without having sex. Having someone to hang out with is better than no one AT ALL!!!!!!!! I AM assuming you are just talking intercourse? If I was with a woman that would do anything but intercourse, that would be ok. But, as I said, having a woman friend is better than nothing. Sex is a pleasant bonus in a relationship.

Now NOW lavender,

chill! my first marriage was a lot different in the sex department.

i'm talking in the almost four years we were together we had sex about twenty five hundred timies. no shit. no matter what i think or say about her i will give her this, she was one hot and horny green eyed red head!

as for my second wife well, between work and her three kids it was whenever we could and had the energy!

as for my third wife i think most of the men in this area knew how hot to trot she was! and to be sure when she wasn't running off with some guy i got my share.

this one just bear trapped me that's all. i do love her. if i thought she didn't love me i'd throw her ass out so fast she would be in a daze for a week.

Okay, I'll be someone: married sex gets better every year. It may not be as often, but when it does happen it is pretty awesome. Purely my opinion based on eight years of marriage.

As for the original question this thread posed, I couldn't be perfectly happy with a no-sex relationship. Think of love as the cake and sex as the frosting; by itself cake is good but frosting adds so much to the taste and helps keep the cake fresh too.

I hope the dessert bar is open tonight. :D

Been there done that...

I can survive if the love is there.

I also figure that I've lived 22 years without sex, and survived, in tact, so what's another 22? As I said before, sex is just a bonus to a relationship.

Married sex...

I'll also be someone. After 8 years in a relationship, and 4 years married, we still have sex 5-10 times a week, depending on schedules and energy.

It gets better every year, every month, every day.

Sometimes, every hour.

There's a lot to be said for knowing every detail of another person's body and learning their secret fantasies.

I think honesty has a lot to do with the sex-after-marriage thing. The world would be a better place if people didn't pretend to like it when they don't, and wouldn't pretend it isn't key when it's a deal-breaker.

Also, don't have kids. I'm firmly convinced they remove most of the sex from 80% of marriages. And 90% of the kink from all of them.

Sheesh im lucky to get it at all :( Been married 13 months and think had it about once a month.

Get so frustarted at times not getting any almost given up on it. And get tired of having to masturbate :( Due to my wife having a rash most of the time which comes and goes. Damm diabetes really screws it ups.

Atm im so ticked off this forum board helps releive my frustration i see im not only one who rarely gets it :( And im so open that drives me insane not being able to do things i want to.

How many are in that boat? your more sexsual than your spouse?
and more open to things!

Peter :)
