I think, such a story would be more well received if it were about a virginal man and his female best friend who wants to be more than friends.
But even then, it'd be a fine line to skirt between humor and reluctance.
Also maybe if he never actively voices his desire to remain a virgin to the girl who is constantly trying to seduce him, that might make it less problematic.

I think it would work well with both. Religion or something like a subculture could be the culprit for their opposition to sex. Their parents might have been so adverse to talking about it with their kids they repressed it at every opportunity. Now the guy or gal has a warped sense of sexuality and is opposed to it.
However, they are now a student, or otherwise let loose on the wide world. They see this in their mind forbidden thing openly talked about. It is everywhere. Of course they had some contact with it via billboards, spam and the internet in general, but now they see how accepted it is in society.
Then a roommate or neighbour gets absolutely demolished, their cries of pleasure recognisable to even the protagonists mind.
In conversation others find out about his aversion to sex, and they tease the protagonist about it. They'll tell that they are now doubting about it, and need to make up their mind.
This leads to some innocent fun (it can be cruel, but that's not how it'll be written). They decide to see how far they can push the protagonist. It is easily noticed that the protagonist is very interested, but not committing.
So imagine fir a man that they start to wear revealing clothes. It can be innocent, not yet lingerie, but something like short dresses, open bellies and low cut tops. A women comes to him in a bikini, asking if the shaved her bikini line well. They talk about their latest time they got laid. They keep their door open, telling him that if he's curious, he can always come by and get some real hands on experience. Hands that can be replaced with anything tight and wet if he wants it.
For a woman this is much the same. Topless window cleaning of the buff dude. Open talks about how she imagines her first time to be, and what she would like in a guy. The women egging her on by suggesting all kinds of great toys to get familiar with, and how good sex can be. Taking advantage of her curiosity to make her go to the very edge of having sex.

I like extremes so let’s say a priest or a nun is the MC and they go on vacation, only to accidentally wind up in hell. The Devil puts a bounty on them: any demon that can corrupt the priest/nun will earn his favor. So he’ll gets turned into a twisted version of where the MC was travelling.
Now the demons can’t just force themselves on MC but if they can tempt them they can get them and claim them for all eternity.
