And yes, that reflects very badly on us as a country, but I'm hoping there's a silver lining here. A lot of white progressives used to think we were much farther along towards defeating racism than we really are. Now our eyes have been opened to the truth. A lot of moderate Republicans were able to fool themselves into thinking voting Republican did not make them racist. They can no longer do that, as we're seeing with the myriad Republicans who have endorsed Harris. It'll take a long time for the dust to clear, but let's hope!

I’m honestly holding out hope that the remaining reasonable moderate republicans will join the Democratic coalition and create a dominant centrist party that listens to and tries to be responsive to all voices.
