No "Acceptance Comments"

When rejecting a thread, you are required to leave something in the "notes" field, so that the offending writer knows why. The resultant explanation is sent to the author by email. Filling the notes field when accepting a thread does not relay the message to the author, however.

I think it would be nice if it did. If there's nothing to be done about that, at least people should know that doing what I've been doing does not send notes to the writer. See, now I feel like a jerk!

Yes, the change from Chyoo 1 to Chyoo 2 broke the thread acceptance note function. (It's been broken long enough that I'd forgotten that it would be a bad surprise to some).

However, the notes are not lost, they're simply displayed in the wrong place. When you "Add new thread" to the previously accepted thread, the acceptance notes for the preceding are displayed on the "add" form. I do add acceptance comments for threads I accept, figuring that the author will probably know where to look. And I look for acceptance comments on threads that I contribute.

If that isn't good enough, you can immediately rate the accepted thread and paste in the same comment into the rating box. Despite the moderately small size, it will take a fair number of characters. Or likewise, drop the acceptance comment into the form on the author's page that sends them email.

Yes, I have actually managed to find the "misplaced" notes, but this is counter-intuitive. A writer shouldn't have to click "Add Thread" to see comments when he has no intention of adding a thread. Likewise, a new writer might be confused seeing editor's notes that are actually comments for someone else.

Thankfully, I now know where to look, and where to leave comments, but I'm certain that there are many who do not. I only discovered this because someone writing in my Chyoo complained that I did not leave feedback. I created a new username and a test chyoo just to figure the whole thing out.

I understand that the mods here don't seem to have much power over the website, but at the very least, are they able to make changes to the front page, or make an FAQ that will inform people of these fallacies?

We don't have access to the front page (still has the July 4th 2004 note), nor any sort of FAQ.
