Well, NJ has gay marriage, surprisingly easier than I thought it would happen. The legislature had been close to passing it but the bloated whale that is our governor put the screws to republican legislators not to vote for it or face his retribution.

Well, anyway, a superior court judge ruled that with the end of DOMA (which banned same sex couples legally married from getting federal benefits and recognition), that NJ's civic unions were not equal to marriage (since civic unions are not recognized).....

Bloated whale was saying he would appeal to the NJ supreme court, but he realized he would lose, big time, so he dropped appealing it. Since he primarily was doing this to curry favor with the morons down south who unfortunately control the GOP primaries, he basically figured it wasn't worth looking like a fool when the court ruled against him....

So NJ has it now....14 states in the US have it, 2 more will, once it gets past a certain point (I would guess 20 states or so), I think the big showdown will end up at the Supreme Court, the second part of DOMA about states not recogniing the marriages of other states. Once that happens, and likely will fall, then people can get married in states that allow it and their own state will have to accept it under the full faith and credit clause.....
