How hard are you sucking? Sometimes my guy is a bit rough, but if I tell him he's being rough, he backs off a bit or takes a break.

Listen to your girlfriend. As Eilan so eloquently points out, you wouldn't want the G.I. Joe kung fu death grip on your balls if it wasn't your thing? Talk to her about her nipple sensitivity, it may be a monthly cycle thing as suggested or it may be that you are getting a little too exuberant at times and you need to back off a bit. If sucking is uncomfortable no matter how gently you are, then how about resorting to nipple massage with your tongue?

Yes - from my experience I suggest very many women have very sensitive nipples and this sensitivity can change more or less sensitive depending upon time of month, time of day, mood, how arroused she is, and for a miriad of reasons. I suggest exploring gently to see how reponsive she is and dont go straight for nipples.
