Im bored and was just thinking.

Now I know fans of both Tool and NIN are like die hard fans. So im just wonderin.

Whos better? NIN or Tool.

There may not be as many Tool fans here as there are NIN. but still what do you guys think?

I prefer NIN actually. I know Tool has been around a while but Ive just recently started to like them. Only because Ive pretty much run out of bands to like and Im tired of listening to the same guys over and over for years at a time!!! *takes medication*

Tool is awesome. I must admit. But NIN is just so versitile.

They can go from haunting love songs, to hardcore cuss filled pieces, which are of equal greatness. There just great. Nuff said right? right! :D

Also i made this into a poll, like three times and i keep refreshing on the general board and it never worked so what happened? Ive never made a thread with a poll before So I dont even know how it works.

NINE INCH NAILS!!! NINE INCH NAILS!! NINE INCH NAILS!!! WHOOOOOOOO!!!

figured from you bud. Why?

i know ya must be an expert. or pretty darn close. ;)

b/c ma man Trent covers just about every emotion i got with a song!

b/c The Day the World Went Away reduces me to tears...

I like them both actually...but it depends on what I am looking for on any given day. I think that T.R. is an INCREDIBLE artist, and does awsome things with music...but Tool's lyrics tend to get me more than NIN. I think though if I had to lay them down side by side, I would say that NIN has more raw talent... dunno, am I rambling?

"Closer To God" - need I say more?

swoons ooohh yeah....I have an import CD that has like 12 different mixes of that song...it's incredible.

Hmm...Let's think about it...Moody, whiny semi-gothic semi-techno poopoo versus intelligent lyrics, complex music structures, and incredible vocals. That's a tough one, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with the latter...Tool. No question.

YEAAAAA!!! Laurel mixes it up rather nicely. :)

I have to agree very much so on the lyrics part. All of Tool's songs are so well thought out and reall mean something. They express so much in there songs.

NIN has that quality sometimes, but not compared to Tool at all in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong - NIN's stuff is very catchy. But to compare Trent's dirgy pop to Tool...pullease. Tool are innovators. NIN is 5th generation Revolting Cocks/Ministry/Godflesh, only with poppy dance beats.

I cant decide between 2 really cool bands, so Id have to say, both.

Fav NIN album: Broken

Fav TOOL album: none other than Undertow

*gives everybody who likes Tool the finger*

Tool....

The band stands alone.... I do love Trent but if I had to buy the one album between the two bands it would be Aenima over the Fragile.

NIN covers too many genres of music to be 5th generation anything...

NINs song lyrics are not just lyrics, they're poems.. stand alone, no music, no vocals, no nothing but words, NIN's lyrics beat Tool's handsdown in my opinion..

This kind of statement is used a lot in debates I have with friends concerning artists(The Doors, Floyd, Dylan) who I don't really like.

"Morrisons lyrics aren't songs, they're poems."

"Dylan was a poet to everyone elses lyricist"

"Pink Floyd is fuckin' poetry guy, pass the doritos"

And to be honest, what does it mean? All lyrics are, to a degree poems. Saying that one guy is a poet, compared to another is just saying that you think he's a good poet. Everyone who writes a song is a poet to some extent. Subjective statements like "good" then have to be examined.

I'll bet Falco thought he was a poet.

Also, I'm with Laurel. Tool are, you know, moderately interesting from time to time. When I was 14 Downward Spiral was fun to dance to but now???

great to see some controversy in here. thats what I wanted. I didnt want people to think others are wrong in there opinions or anything but ya know. a good debate is always good. if it wasnt there wouldnt be one between candidates, news media poeple. ect.

Keep it up. :) *crosses fingers*
