Heya, folks. I'm new to this forum, so bare with me if I seem uninformed or ramble a bit. I'm the webmaster/co-owner of a website called Darker Pleasures (www.darkerpleasures.com). The site specializes in original and exclusive material focusing in the very tight niche of female breast torment. Our stories are all accompanied by custom shot images that are spaced throughout the story and galleries which include all of the pictures shot for that story.

Until very recently, my partner and I have written all the stories, each of which ranges from 3000 - 5000 words. When we began the site, I was also the photgrapher/webmaster and she was the model. We went the first year with that arrangement, at which time we began hiring out the photography and modeling. I learned the ins and outs of pricing and negotiating for these types of exclusive images and have finally become well-versed enough to deal with real models and photographers with some knowledge.

Now, after moving into the third year, I am beginning to look for writers that would be willing and able to write stories for this somewhat restrictive niche. The stories generally have to be written one of two ways, either crafted around a pre-shot series of images that I provide contacts for, or written and then shot.

In either case, I find myself at a bit of a loss, as I did when I first began contracting pictures, as to what is fair to pay (or not to pay) for what would be a 3000 - 5000 word story that focuses primarily on the BDSM sub-group of breast torture - a niche that may appeal strongly to some writers, but not en masse.

In the beginning I thought such an enterprise would be relatively inexpensive. After all, I'm paying $250.00 - $350.00 for 100 - 150 images, and these women have to actually submit to the torment (whether actual or semi-simulated), so just writing about it (as I have done for three years) seemed fairly far down the scale, particularly since writing about it is fun, right? Well, as I've been called down recently, I realize I may be mistaken, so, in my very long-winded way, I'm asking you folks... What's fair? What's not? And how many writers would even be interested?

Thanks for putting up with the long read...

Niche stories

I have written for the specialized niche of breast enlargement and giantism. The primary market buys 5k to 7k word stories and illustrates them with line drawings. The pay rate is $150 to $250, depending on the experience of the author.

Starting out, I was unfamiliar with the genre. I read a lot of stories in the genre before I really understood the nuances and turn-ons unique to that niche. Frankly, my first efforts missed the mark.

I now produce and sell to this market a story every six weeks, on average. I believe I am building a following within the genre.

Your market seems similar in many respects. You need good authors, with an understanding of what the genre is all about. If you can offer a way for an author to familiarize himself with your genre, you will be able to fill your need for good stories.

DP Master,

I looked up the Writer's Guidelines for some Fetish websites. Here are the results:

www.bloodfetish.com (Blood Fetish) pays $50 US for stories not to exceed 4,000 words.

www.ms-abby.com (Abby's Realm) pays $25 US for stories in the 1,500 - 3,500 word range.

www.amoretonline.com (Amoret) pays $2 US for 100 word or less stories. They specialize in Flash Fiction.

www.eros-noir.com pays $50-$150 US per story. Stories range from 500 - 3,000 words.

www.seska4lovers.com (Seska for Lovers) pays 3.5 cents per word, in US currency. Stories to be 1,000 - 2,000 words.

I hope that gives you some idea of what your 'competition' is paying.

Regards,

-T

Thank you both very much for your help. I have found that, although there are many BDSM stories out there that include breast-oriented material, there are almost none that focus on it almost entirely except inside our site.

One of the contributors to literotica, "quad68", expressed an interest a couple of months back and has contributed a couple of short pieces. He was quickly able to show me his credentials through literotica and so, in order to allow him the opportunity to familiarize himself, I gave him temporary access to the members' area of Darker Pleasures.

I would certainly be willing to do the same for any other writers that were able to demonstrate honest writing desires through literotica or another web site.

As for the price, thanks to this thread I have a much better idea of what to offer. That's the great thing about these forums.

Again, thank you both!
