How can anyone be a fan of a particular NFL football team? College footaball attempts to be automatic, wonderful, and genuine. The pros are basically for degenerate gamblers and John Madden lovers. So how does one become a Jets, Bills, etc...fan?

I don't have a NFL favorite, not really. There are teams that I like to watch because they are good, teams that I watch because they were once good (my poor, poor Cowboys..*sniffle*), teams I watch out of loyalty (my dad is huge Lions fan) and teams I watch just cause the quaterback is a hottie ;) I love the game of football, not just a particular team.

As for college, I rarely watch the games. I will watch the UofM/OSU game. but only so i can gloat when Michigan wins once again :D I may check the scores of other games, just so I know who won a game that a friend likes.

btw...Hi Marxist :)

estevie,

we're not becoming friends are we? that would be strange although my av. told me some interesting things about your av. i hope they're true.

i wish there was a way for nfl teams to be regionalized so only players from certain regions could only play for certain teams. i know that's stupid but why root for a team full of guys who don't really give a shit about the people or city they play for.

Well, it's slightly different in the case of the Packers. Of course they give a shit about the community. The community owns them, pays their salary, errata. I also think it's pretty ridiculous to automatically assume that none of the NFL players give a shit about the community, the cities they live in, or the fans they play for. It's just as ridiculous to assume that college football is any more genuine. College players don't necessarily give a shit about the college they play for, the city they're in, or the fans that watch them. The good ones only use college as a springboard into the NFL. The bad ones play for shitty teams. Such pride in athletics these days.

I am a Packers fan. Always have been, always will be. I'm a Nebraska fan. Always have been, always will be. I'm a Navy fan, just as long as they don't play Nebraska. It's a recent development.

Players know who signs their paychecks, they aren't stupid people. They know where the revenue is generated. Endorsement contracts are great, but the fans bring the bacon.

i like college football.. the games are always more exciting to me... and of course, its even better when my school wins (Go Boilers!!)

as for NFL, i dont really like it much.. the few times i do watch it, the people playing play like they dont really give a shit one way or the other.. so its not that exciting or even interesting

Good point, it does suck when some dude from California is playing in Green Bay, lol

I love the game despite its faults!

Us? friends? nahhhh...well...maybe ;)

I know quite a few NFL players and I didn't mean that they were uncaring in a mean degenerate way, just that the same dude that plays for your Packers could just as easily play for the Bengals and not shed a tear. Baseball is the only big time professional sport that I've seen people turn down money to move.

oops!

I forgot to ask what your av told ya, I've told mine to keep her mouth shut, but damn her...shes a chatty one! :D
