NFL Pick 'Em Pool 2010 is HERE!

Okaaaaaayzzzz!

Here's the deal. It's an online pool at PoolHost.com. Find the red button (near the top, left side) for "Join a Private Pool" and click it, then click Pro Football Pick 'Em. At some point, I guess you'll need to enter/register a player name (if you use your Lit name, it will make it easier for me to figure out and post the standings ) and password, then go to pool Litsters2010. The Pool Login Name is Litplayer; the pool password is cafe2010. Make your picks for week 1 by 9/9 before 8:30 p.m. EDT (1:30 a.m. GMT 9/10, 2:30 a.m. BST 9/10!); I'll post pick deadlines for each succeeding week along with the pool results.

If you have any issues getting into PoolHost or the pool itself, PM me and we'll try to get together on MSN Messenger or YIM to resolve it. Might be a good idea to get yourself at least registered and an initial view into the picks page a day or three before the deadline

Good luck to all with our picks this year, and let's recruit as many players as we can to make the playing more fun!

Thanks. I did do some research, checked out a number of pool hosting sites before settling on this one. It seemed to be the most user-friendly and easiest to get into. And I understood it, which was rather important.

I like how it has the options for picking all home teams or all away teams or just random picks. So now if someone doesn't have the time to make picks they can just click the button and it will be done for them.

Not knowing much about football isn't always a detriment. A few years ago, a certain pyl-type here was one of the top players picking teams by who had the cutest butts, if I remember correctly. Or maybe it was cutest uniforms. I'm not sure.

Remember, you don't have to know anything about football to participate! There are lots of ways to come up with your picks, and while some of them might seem strange to other folks, it's all in a very good cause: Entertainment, amusement and socialization.

I considered the home team pick, but since there is a slight, but statistically relevant, advantage (thus, the "home field advantage" cliché - and we all know that clichés become so because there is at least *some* truth to them), I thought it was fairer to *all* the players, at least this week when I haven't been able to yet get in contact with the person who hasn't made his/her picks, to use the random option if he/she doesn't get them in by deadline.

And on that topic: What do y'all think of each player noting in here, ahead of time, whether they want "All Home," "All Visitor," or "Random" picks if a week comes when they miss making their picks for some reason?
