Let's start this one off with a bang, shall we? :D

Report: NFL will add playoff team to each conference beginning this season

The Chiefs earned a first-round bye on the last day of the 2019 regular season on their way to the Lombardi Trophy. That quite possibly could mark the final season of two teams getting byes in each conference.

Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement proposal, the NFL would add a playoff team to each conference beginning this season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

stupid and pointless; "yaaay, everyone gets a trophy" BS. The playoffs should be a reward for a successful season, and in particular, winning your conference. It should not be so a bunch of 8-8 or 7-9 teams can extend their season who don't deserve a playoff spot. I really hope they don't do this.

It's like the college bowl system, where you have a bunch of mediocre to crap 6-6 teams playing some random 7-5 (insert cardinal direction) Michigan team or someone like Florida Atlantic (for whom 7-5 would probably be a dream season). Nobody watches that crap. Except maybe (direction) Michigan or Florida Atlantic fans (all 14 of them.)

It's done.

And, with that, the NFL changes forever. Teams will now play 17 games instead of 16, playoffs will expand.

NFL players approve new CBA, runs through 2030

NFL players voted to approve a new collective bargaining agreement with the league's owners, ensuring NFL labor peace through at least 2030 and clearing the way for a 17-game regular season as early as 2021.

The vote to approve was close, at 1019-959. Approval required a majority of the players voting. The NFL Players Association tweeted news of the approval, saying: "The result comes after a long and democratic process in accordance with our constitution." The 10-day voting period, during which any player who paid NFLPA dues during the past calendar year was eligible to vote, concluded at 11:59 p.m. ET on Saturday. Before the voting, the NFLPA estimated that roughly 2,500 players were eligible to vote.

There needs to be an asterisk for all records set (esp. total yards) from now until the next expansion.

Will apple juice be the official drink of the NFL as they spend the entire season a minimum of 6' apart? :)

They added one game. The last time they added 2 and 2 before that and players since don't typically get an asterisk. Hence arguments over greatness.

New stadium construction in L.A. and Vegas will be delayed due to coronavirus.

Seems a no-brainer but, with everything else going on, I hadn't thought about it until now.

Sort of interested to see a Las Vegas team. It never struck me as a big sports town.

they should just take per game averages more seriously, but the records things has already been blown out of the water by rule changes that have handcuffed defenses and let losers like sam bradford complete over 70% of his passes.

and i'll continue to roll my eyes at randy moss needing 16 games to beat a receiving td record that jerry rice set in a 12 game season.

and he only got one more touchdown in the four extra games.

and oj simspon still had the best season rushing ever even though his record was broken by eric dickerson back in the 80's.

what fun. so many and's.

I was flipping around and someone was showing the 2016 B10 basketball championship, because there isn't anything else. :)

That's because it used to be frowned upon for professional sports teams to play there. Too much temptation for fixing games.

But now that sports gambling is gonna be legal just about everywhere...

Talking real fans tho. Gamblers aren't fans altho they'll sell some tickets for sure. Just don't get the impression they'd have a ton of true hardcore fans like other teams.

Then you're gonna have to go back and put one on every player with a record since 1961.

I honestly think that there's a way to figure it out but the total yards records need attending to if you're going to give some qb an extra 300 yards per season.

it's march. there wasn't going to be anything resembling actual football until august anyway.

I dont understand the losing mentality of the cowboys. Why the fuck wont they pay dak? He earned it. They will lose him. I wouldnt sign anything but a longterm contract. And if Tannehill can get 96 million guaranteed w 117 total...wtf? He is worth the 35/yr he is asking

Rivers to the Colts.

No confirmation yet. Supposedly they're currently not agreeing on money.

There's also a rumor that Indy will land Jadeveon Clowney (source: New York Post). They already got DeForest Buckner.

If they get Rivers and Clowney both they'd be in good shape for a year or so. Rivers aint got much more than that in him and the QB market isn't gonna get any better in the near future. I get the need and don't blame them for picking him up but he's a band-aid like Manning was in Denver.
