Nexus.......Yours and My Paris

The wet streets with glistening cobblestones at 4 am in the morning.

The bookstands along the Siene.

The street performers in front of Norte Dame and Musee de Modern Arte.

The 4th Floor balcony overlooking Paris from the Musee de Orsey sitting on a wet bench with a hot Express'

The crowded book stores with books piled in high stacks on the floor.

The quiet lil parks scattered around the city where lovers huddle and kiss and neck.

An enormous hot bowl of noodle soup in the asian restraurants on a cold rainy day.

The bells of Norte Dame at noon on Sunday.

The Butcherie
The Bulangerie
The Pastiere

A ham sandwich on a petite baguette from a bakery and a bottle of Evian for lunch on a bench at the park on the first sunny day in April.

This is my Paris.

Your turn.

I can not I will cry:( Each sentence hurts me, I even miss the gray days and the tourists. Well, perhaps not the tourists:)
The Grand Old Dame seduces us all, it is in the air when lovers walk through the cobblestones and children run by singing English pop songs with our accent lol
I miss it all

I love Paris,,,,,,,,,,

If I could, I would live there.

I always cried like a baby whenever I had to leave.
I am a Parisan, it is a state of mind....
it is either in your heart and you understand Paris, her people, her crowds, her noises, her scents, her silence........

Or you will never really know Paris.

Tourists miss so much of Paris....
Paris is not what is along the Siene........

Paris is in every narrow street
and every walk up apt.

It is in every bite of a Baguette.
and every sip of a Merlot.

Paris is a woman.

And I love her.

Are you not French? :)

In my heart I am.

:p

Great, I already wanted to go there, and you guys are making it worse.

And Nessus needt to polish up my french.

Ne parlez francais, mon cherie.

Cheffie,,,,,,,,,,go, you will not regret it.

:p

I love all of France.

Normandy on a cold winter day, walking along the sea wall with the mist spraying in my face, huddled in my jacket on my way to a restaurant to eat Moules.

I love the Valleys where the wine is made......stretching out all around the view.

I love the alps.....with the cold crisp ancient lakes and mountains peeked with snow even in summer.

I love France more than anywhere I have ever lived.

But alas, I can not work there, I cant stay indefinitely, as you know, the laws and all.

I am an American....and I was proudest to be American when in France. To be an American that GOT France....that understood her.

I am 1/2 Irish 1/2 Mexican.
But 100% French in my heart.

sorry for the diatribe........but I mean every word of it.

Thank you, I feel honoured somehow - you share my passion - it helsps.

Count me in on wanting to see Paris & now, even more so. I haven't been anywhere & reading this thread makes me wish I could pack my bags, pick you all up & fly over there to really see it. Thank you so much for making it seem a little bit more real.

Teresa you should go see it for yourself

:p

But dont do the tourist thing........
dont do a tour
dont try to see Paris in 2-3 days......Paris is like a fine wine.
You must savor it.

Dont try to see all the museums and monuments.

Dont go where tourists go.

Go to out of the way places. take the boat ride along the Siene and see all of Paris, then decide what to see.

Walk the streets. walk along the Siene......everything streams off the Siene.

Dont eat in tourist restaurants.......eat where Parisans eat.

Talk to someone that has lived there, find out best things to see and do.,.........
and then you will fall in love with Paris too.

Siren

I know the neighborhood where you lived, and it is lovely. Yours and Nessus' posts make me long for that exquisite city of the senses. If I may add some memories of favorite experiences to yours:

the flower market in the square by l'Opera, a riot of colors and aromas, filled with the chatter of vendors and customers

the chocolate shops

sitting in an outdoor cafe on the Champs Elysees, watching the stylish women walk by

sitting at a table in a brasserie with my 3 year-old daughter, waving to evening commuters passing by on a rainy evening, as they hurry to the metro

Place Vendome and its anarchistic traffic

Pont Neuf, draped in white fabric glory at night, while passing underneath on the batteau mouche on a warm spring evening

dogs everywhere

the parks filled with adoring parents with their baby-doll children on a Sunday afternoon

walking to the outdoor market each morning for fresh raspberries and cheese. Stopping at the boulangerie for freesh-baked, warm croissants.

Oh la la!

Oh yes Yogi those are memories of Paris alright

:p

I am off to Paris on 30th November for 3 days and Rheims .....any ideas of where to visit in both places please .......we dont like art gallerys ....

try the places suggested in this thread

:p
