I wrote a story, found this site, submitted right away... Now I've made changes so I'm at a loss cuz it's still pending approval... ???

Hi. Welcome, and you'll need to slow down. :)

Normally it takes about 72 hours/3 days for a story to be approved, and it has nothing to do with being new to the site. It's just standard. It may take a day or two extra for new authors, and if there is a contest running (there isn't, one just ended), that may tack on time as well.

I would suggest three things.

First, delete your story -- go to your submissions page, click the "pending" link, and I believe you will have a delete option. When that's done, resubmit your new story. You'll have to wait the 72 hrs/3 days.

Second, click on the "pending" link, make your changes and hit submit. This will put your story at the end of the line again, so you will likely have to wait another 72 hours from this point, but that's the way it goes.

Third, wait for your story to post (you'll see "Approved" where you now see "pending" on your submission page). Then submit the story as though it was new, by going to the submissions page. In the title field, enter the title followed by the word "EDIT." Then in the notes field, write a note saying that this is an edited version, etc. Info in the notes field directs the story to a human viewer (to my knowledge) and so they will see that and know it is not a duplicate or anything.

You'll again have to wait for the edits to show up, but your story will be up in the mean time and you won't lose any votes or comments (if you allowed them).

Hi, Jade Lady, and welcome to Literotica and the AH. :)

I suggest you delete the pending story and resubmit it. That would be the easiest and fastest way. It will take about three or four days to post, unless there are problems found. That's assuming it is not an audible or illustrated story. Those take much longer, about three weeks.

BTW: I notice you have not yet submitted the required nude photos, front and rear views of yourself. You should probably do that as soon as you can or, if you prefer, email them to me. :)

lol, cut it out boxy

Jade, if I have one piece of advice, since you're new to the AH, there is a certain poster that you need to ignore right away.

His name is scouries, and he will tell you that he works for literotica, and he makes up all of these fake contests. Ignore him, and your good!

Happy writing!

She's right, but there's more to it than that. Scouries posts under a lot of alts, which means alter egoes, which means he uses different names on this forum and others. Sometimes these alts converse with each other, which is odd, because he is talking to himself. You can put him on ignore if you want. I haven't, because sometimes I find his pretensions amusing. Just remember not to take him seriously. :)

Hahaha... ;)

Good points... I wasn't worried that it hadn't been approved yet... I was more concerned with the fact that after reading some, I don't think it's good enough! So I made changes and wasn't sure to go about it, but I will delete it and resubmit it cuz really I think I'm still working on it! LOL

Thanks for the advice!

Writing is the only way to learn to write so you'r on the right track.

Lit is also a good place to try your wings cause it costs you nothing but a little skin from the trolls and spelling/grammar police. ;)

Welcome to the madhouse, pull up a chair and relax, they can yell and scream but they can't eat you unless you want to be eaten. :D

Well, my original piece left out a lot of detail and was 7 pages.... Since I've added detail to the first page, it's now 13... Is there a limit? or should I break it into pieces?

There is only a minimum limit of 750 words (as I recall). Remember that a screen page will be longer than a written page in Word or whatever your word processor is. I believe someone said a Lit screen page is approximately 3400 words. I know that the way I have my template in Word set up, I get about six Word pages to the screen page.

I try to keep my own submissions to 2-4 screen pages. I don't usually have time to read more than that myself, so I try not to ask others for more than I can do. I will go beyond that for contest entries, but otherwise I try to stick to my own limit.

"Madhouse" is correct, and I believe it is actually the preferred form. This is assuming we are not referring to a residence which is angry, such as I have seen in some horror movies.

Dude, I was pulling TxRad's leg and HE at least knew it.

That you went to all of the work, posting links and such, to correct me is cracking my ass up!

I wasn't going to tell him he did all that work for nothing. ;)

So I'm about half way through it and added a lot of dialouge... Now it's 19 pages... Makes me feel good!

Welcome to Lit and the AH, JL. :rose:

Write what you like and don't worry about the length; although as someone else has said, most Lit readers do not have long attention spans and four Lit pages is usually the limit for most stories, otherwise they'll hit the "Back" arrow.

Logging on still counts as a 'Read' though. ;)

I think she means 19 pages on her HD. I don't know what size print she is using, but I submitted a story last night which is 6,900 words and 17 pages long. That's not a particularly long story. It would be about two Lit. pages, maybe a third very short one.

I agree, though, with what you are saying. Just say what you feel like saying and don't worry about length, as long as it remains interesting. :)

Hello and welcome to AH - this is a journey and one is well advised to enjoy it while on the journey - absorbing, inhaling, and soaking up the experience.....
