Just want to bitch a little, first I find the word newbie condescending, it as if you are "New". I have almost a no post count but have been coming here as long as I can recall. I am writing my first story for here but I am not new at writing erotica and other types of lit. When I or we have been involved in other aspects of sexual lifestyles or groups the term keeps popping up. It seems prevalent where sexuality is involved. I am 42 and by no means "New" at much. I have been exposed to many things in life and no where but where sexuality is involved is the term "Newbie" used with such frequency.

For a place with so many who have great language skills, extensive vocabularies, does it surprises me such an inane word is used. I would hope that a board such as this would work to inspire those who want to write and express themselves and not use such a condescending word as that. Anyway bitched, got it off my chest lol ....

From what I've seen, the word "newbie" is used at just about every bulletin board to denote someone just starting to post there, whether you've been "lurking" (just as common) for awhile, or not.

Doesn't seem like it's something to get all worked up about, after all, it doesn't last long.

*shrug*

With the exception of those who were here when Literotica started, everyone has been a newbie. I never thought of the term as condescending. As Cloudy points out, the term is a very common one on Internet boards.

If you do not understand the etiquette of a board, you are a newbie, even if you are 100 years old.

KMHO.

I have no issues with being new or new poster or whatever, but the term "Newbie" is a pet peeve. First heard the term in the S&M community, then heard it in the swinger's community. Just seems much more prevelant in the sexual community then anywhere else. But hey just my hang up lol .... no big deal, just prefer people found a better term like virgin lol, no pet peeves about that word (How can you find that word bothersome, we all at some point were virgins lol) lmaoooooo :D .... just wanted to vent ..... :D ..... And it is used elsewhere, but not at the rate it is thrown around where anything to do with sex is involved ...... could be wong or maybe the boards I go to just don't use the term ... anyway got it out of my system now lol ....
