I am considering posting some of my stories to this site. My nick here is the bull one and my pen name is different. I do not want to use the nick as my pen name as I am attempting to build a dare I say it a reputation.
What is the situation here please? Should I abandon the Angus nick and create a new one or is there not a problem?
Any help appreciated.

AB,

I like you already. A virgin who hasn't asked how long it'll take for his story to appear. That's a good sign.

But seriously folks, marketing-wise, if you want to build a following, having a different nickname from the one that will appear on your stories would seem to be counter-productive.

IMHO, your pen name and nickname should be the same. I don't know if it's possible to change a handle once you've registered. Maybe someone who actually knows what they're talking about will help out. You might also send a PM to Laurel, the site owner, and ask her. If a name change is impossible, then you'll need to re-register using your pen name.

Thanks for the information. I have learned that taking it slow gets the go. And not just with stories either...
I was on another writing group for a while but found it a bit intense. On here it seems a bit more laid back and neutral, but then again thats just first impressions.

Thanks again

I have recently been informed that it's possible.

Name stuff...

Do tell Perditia!

I did mention in passing something about first impressions..LOL
Nice to get such fast feed back though. Thanks.
I have contatcted the owner with my question about changing over to Shenachie so I'll let you know when or if it happens.
I have a mail tag you see which is a Doric saying.
"Patience and perseverance will bull a he cat." Well coming origionally from Aberdeenshire what other breed could the bull be but an Aberdeen Angus. :D
I have a friend in Australia and at the end of out mails there is always a smalll adventure for Angus. Often involving pails of oats... he needs his energy you see...lol
I seem to be in a rmabling mood so before this turns into a story I'm off to cook tea.

Welcome aboard AB, looking forward to reading your stories.

ps. DampPanties, I hope you're not thinking of changing your nom de plume, I like it (like the AV, too).

Dear Rumple,
Don't jump to conclusions. He hasn't submitted a story yet, so it's not time for The Question.
MG
Ps. That "thinking about submitting some stories to this site" has me just tingling all over in anticipation.
Pps. Hoot mon, Angus

Awww Thanks. :)

I was thinking of changing it simply because of the reason that I get lots of stupid mail based solely on the nom de plume. I've begun to get irritated. There's this mail in my inbox with the tempting subject 'Feedback for damppanties'; I open it... and there's something like "How damp are they?" Just how long can one take it? :(

What should one expect.....?

Dear DP,
With a nom like that, it's not surprising you get that sort of mail. Me? I get asked for help with algebra homework.

Exactly why I want to change it to something like AR57AN8.

AR57AN8! Oh, baby! Talk about lighting an old man's fire. :) What about AR15M16E1?

Rumple, did you miss out on your medication again?

Heck, no. And if I did, I'd just double up to catch up. Certain numbers have a high "turn-on" factor. Like the old, pre-metric 36-24-36. Which reminds me, maybe MG will see fit to explain to you the number I suggested to DP.

Nicks and darker meanings

Smiles for you DP. You encapuslated the problem neatly. The nick is very important and need some thought and I will admit I came on here sort of in disguise as my usual nick of Shen was well, I thought to create another persona then thought why bother. I am I.

I enjoyed your doggy tale by the way. Nice one.

I smiled at your comment to MathGirl, I can imagine..LOL
Any of you people Paltalk users by the way? I have wondered about using my room there for story discussions but never actually tried it.
I have I think got my site on my profile if thats of any interest.

Regards,

Shen

Create as many pen names as you wish. There are some authors here who have a separate pen name for each story series or category. (I post stories as "DirtyOld Man" and How To essays as "Weird Harold," for example)

You can use any of your pen names as nicknames on the BB, although most who use a different pen name than nickname (like me) stay with one nickname on the BB to avoid confusion.

The only problem with using a different pen name for stories is logging out from your nickname and back in as your pen name to submit or check on your stories.

Account query then...

Thanks for that info Weird but when I tried to log in to start over and create another account the site recognised me from I assume a cookie and that was that idea stuffed.
Suggestions for the way around this appreciated.

Dear Rumple,
I know, it's a chemistry thing. Something to do with exothermic deconstruction of organonitrates.
MG
Ps. Am I close?
Pps. Angus: Try tossing your cookies.

Eyup Angus. There should be a 'clear cookies' button somewhere on the board. If you can't find it windows can do it for you under 'tools' then 'internet options'.

Welcome to the zoo.

If you think we aren't intense round here you just haven't been reading us for very long.

*Took me weeks to think of that nick

Very, very close. In fact, I might say, bullseye. However, I don't think you shed a lot of normenclature-type illumination on the subject.

Oh, and welcome, Angusthe. We're all a (moderately) friendly bunch here.

Occationally we freak. Just ignore it. Or dive right in, if that's your cuppa.
