Hi! I just posted by first short story and one of my first feedback comments is that I copied the story. I didn't, as this story is completely my own work inspired by one of my favorite masturbation fantasies. So what I would like to know is- should I remove this comment from my feedback? Is removing someone's feedback totally rude? I don't mind being insulted or criticized but I do mind being accused of plagarism.
I would really appreciate your advice. I'm new to the site as well as to sharing my work.
Thanks!

You can remove any feedback you like, anytime you like.

If you know it's your own work, then delete the comment. Some people get off on attacking others. Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast.

you can address his feedback by leaving a public comment of your own - perhaps something along the lines of "this is my own work. it's entirely possible, however, that you may have read something simliar, because it is a common fantasy for women."

but if the feedback really bothers you, and you feel it's unwarranted, then remove it.

what i don't like, however, is authors who remove any feedback they don't agree with --- as if by somehow removing all negative feedback people won't know their story is crap. (NOT the case for your story - just a side rant.)

And welcome to Lit - I hope you'll stay awhile! :)

Of course you should remove it. that's why the site owners gave the option of editing PC's to the authors. There is no need to let your work become a forum where those of no talent can attack your work.

Don't let it piss you off. You might get stuff like that from time to time. Constructive criticisms are great. I listen to the feedback I get and they helped me produce 3 books from the work I posted on Lit.

I agree with the others.
Take it down if it's total crap.

As for simply not liking some comments, I'm with trendyredhead.

Welcome, take a look at the links in my sig and have fun!

:D

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I had prepared myself for criticism, but I was very surprised by the comment that I had copied someone's work. trendyredhead- you are right that it is possible he read a similar work since it is a common fantasy.
Anyway, thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome to lit and the AH.

Congrats on getting your first story up. How much sleep did you lose waiting for it to be posted?

You know me so well already! I actually didn't lose much sleep waiting for the story to post because I had already gone through it with my poems. I lost alot of sleep there, and then I lost alot of time freaking out over my ratings. I wish I could say that I write only for myself and I don't care what others think, but I have discovered that I am quite fond of praise. :)
