New Year's Traditions

I've seen the What are your plans for New Year's thread and the What are your New Year's resolutions threads.

This one is along the same lines..what New Year's traditions do you have?

Even though I am a Yankee, my mother was from the south and all while I grew up we had to have black-eyed peas on January 1. Not sure of the reason why- maybe something to do with good luck for the coming year? Does anybody know? Juliangel? Others try to have apples and honey -for a sweet year ahead.

As I grew older, I always made sure to have sex right after the party (sometimes during the party! ) to start the New Year off right. Does anybody else do that?

Yep, the black-eye peas are for good luck.

The sex after/during the party sounds like better luck.

Sorry I got to run, headed out to the produce section of the nearest grocers. Then come back and have sex. Is that right?
What if you have sex on the greens? dressing or no dressing?
Aren't the black eyes peas done up into hoppin john? or jack, depending on where you are from.

Our family always has some form of pork for dinner and must watch at least part of the Mummers parade.

wait up...I'll go to the grocery with you. John doesn't start hoppin until he's had too many black eyed peas and Jack's off in the heyfield.

There is no dressing required; in fact, it is preferred that you do not.

I always heard that what you are doing when the clock strikes midnight on New Years Eve indicates how your year will go. If your happy you will have a happy year, if you are broke...well...

Anyway I dont know if I like that idea cause I have kicked my guy out (personal reasons) so I will be doing New Years alone.....however that means I will probably be on this site and doing the boards (which you can all tell I am addicted to) which is good.

Now I just have to decide whether my New Year is gonna be good or bad according to this.
