New Years Resolutions

no real resolutions, other than stay happy and healthy. and maybe lurk less

You really need to post more. Your gifs and pics were great, and every once in awhile... you’d speak!

Last year I resolved to read a new book every week. I did fine as long as St Patrick’s Day is next week. ;)

This year I think I’ll try to be more realistic but I haven’t worked out the details yet.

I’m a little more hopeful this year than last.

Do that thing I keep meaning to do but constantly put off due to laziness.

I mean one of the five things I should do but keep putting off.

Doing all five would be way too optimistic.

Do you have any?

Did you meet any milestones last year?

Are you feeling more hopeful for the new year or ????

I am going to try Yoga. Wish me luck. I am former athlete and my muscles are very tight and I want to work on my strength, flexibility, relaxing.

Need to continue walking. I like walking on a treadmill better where I can see results and how far and fast I am walking. I want to see if I can continue to improve my heart function. Severe heart issues for the last 15 years. Finally on the upswing.

Continue to eat healthier vegetables and protein. Manage my grumpy stomach better.

Have a Happy New Year everyone. Continued health and wellness.

A book a week does seem ambitious. Perhaps you could post what you're reading in FlurryFurry's book thread? Say it out loud and keep you on task. Oh wait. That sounded like all dommy. LOL.

Yay for being more hopeful!!! :)

I find I have to actually set a timer to get one thing done. Like right now. I was doing something else but got distracted, one thing led to another and here I am. If I set a timer for 30 minutes, I stay more focused on that one thing. Then I have "permission" to do something else. Go back to the first thing a bit later for another 30 minutes. Otherwise it's like sparkly kitty distraction.

Is there a drop-dead date in which you MUST complete that thing?

Excellent resolutions.

Should I start a thread three months from now: did you keep your resolutions? Or maybe a motivational thread - keep your resolutions going!?

Good to hear your heart stuff is swinging up. :cattail:

The day after President Bush died I picked up my copy of What it Takes, which is a very detailed history of the 1988 presidential election. I found a bookmark that told me that I had last read the book in 1997 and had not finished. I decided to start over. I tend to be one of those people who starts seven books for every three that he finishes. I wonder how many of the eight books that I received for Christmas will end up on my completed list by this time next year.

End my semi-retirement phase and make some money.

I've already done that. It works out great. I have quite a bit of money coming in with Social Security and I have a part time job that is damn easy and pays quite well.

The part time job isn't stressful at all, and I know I can quit at any time. Also, they have no power over me, like when I was working full time and needed the job, because it paid my bills.

And if you find you don't like a part time job, you can always find another. I always think it's good manners to give an employer notice, you aren't stuck there. Find something that's fun.

You could also get two part time jobs but personally, I prefer a lot of time off to do what I want, because I already have enough money from SS. But, if you like to keep busy, you could probably find two part time jobs that allow you to work opposing hours and rake in the money even more.

The part time job I have pays my bills so my SS money just sits in the bank and adds up. It's a nice feeling that I can just decide to go somewhere and have the money to do it, or if I want to buy something, I can do that too.

Getting back to work is a good feeling, when you see the money coming in. You also meet new people and feel like you are needed. Sometimes retirement can make you feel lonely. For the most part, I've found retirement is a lot of fun. But, sometimes semi-retirement can end up giving you a lot, too. It's all perspective...with some extra cash thrown in for good measure.

Besides the usual -- get more exercise and eat healthy -- this year I'm going to try something outside my comfort zone that I've thought about but never got up the nerve to do, although I'm not sure exactly what that will be! (maybe I need to start a separate BDSM resolutions thread!)

I believe I'm going to have sex. For the first time in forever.

I'm not 100% sure, cuz you know, another person. But my lady parts are on board.

I'm going to try and settle most of my small debts by the middle of the year. Start off the end of the year in a much better place.
