It's that time of year again, when we think about what we might like to change about ourselves, what we'd like to achieve, over the course of the coming year.

So, if you'd like to share, what are your resolutions for 2012?
(Be they serious or seriously silly :D)

Please remember this is meant in fun and people's resolutions may well not be the ones you might choose for yourselves but that doesn't make them any less valid. :rose:

Loose more weight, I lost 50+lbs since March of 2011, mostly because Diabetes scared the beejeebus out of me..
But I am feeling better and I want me to look better.. so more weight gone please.

I want a Job!

An I hope to find someone special in 2012.

Cook more. I love cooking, but I just haven't had the time. Now that I have more disposable income and a few recipes up my sleeve, I really want to try them out.

And perhaps be more active on lit particularly in the lounge.

I suppose I can second Cheska on finding that special someone.

Firstly the usual suspects...more exercise, more weight loss

I also want to make a serious effort with my writing this coming year, I wanted to have a serious stab at polishing up my novel and doing something with it...hopefully 2012 will be the year to do that!

Like so many other people I want to try and make my family's life and mine a little more financially secure, which would also involve hoping to make my photography venture a real working thing!

I want to be more appreciative in 2012, I have many many wonderful people and things in my life and sometimes I think I take them for granted a little bit...hopefully I can change that too...

But my biggest hope, because it's not really a resolution, for 2012 is one I can't share yet...but I will do if and when it happens...hopefully before long!!

I'm really not too sure...

Perhaps travel more...
Go out and do things with the family more...
Yes, travel is definitely in the future :)

1) Pay more money down on my house to pay it off sooner. I had a plan to pay it off in 3 years. That was 2 and a half years ago. The plan lasted from April until September, then the financial shtf. Now that things are just about back to normal, it's time to get back after it.

2) Try to be kinder to people. I think I do pretty well at this, but there may be some people I've offended this last year unintentionally.

3) When Spring comes and the marina guy puts my boat back in the water for me, I resolve to take it out on the lake and actually use it instead of going shooting every weekend....or maybe in addition to going shooting, but anyways, I mean to use it and not just pay for the monthly boat slip fee to leave it tied up at the dock.

4) There is a list of people on Lit that I intend to seduce in a scene, somewhere. Time when both of us are online may be difficult to arrange, but if it takes days to play out, then so be it. Britwitch, you are one of them. Cheska, the time is coming to get you alone and lick and kiss you all over until you giggle so hard that you pee a little.:D Luna....Noon....Fr33k....Plexi....Oh, and Sasha, anytime, anywhere. Gosh, there are just so many! And I'm sure I'll add to the list constantly too.

5) I resolve this year to actually put my Christmas tree away this time instead of leaning it up in the corner.

More as I think of them. The truth is, I don't just make resolutions at New Years. I make goals all the time, and write them down or chart them. If there is anything I want to change about my life, why wait for a certain day. it is the resolve to do it, not the date on the calendar, that makes you successful or not. :)

Be enough for my kids. I always worry I'm not enough for them.

Continue with my success in keeping off cigarettes.

Enjoy what we have and not look for more. Our cup is all ready full.

1. Create meaningful boundaries between my life and work.
2. Get out of debt (thats not so much a resolution as something that is scheduled to happen)
3. Write more, and, specifically, finish then rewrite my novel
4. Exercise
5. Order out MUCH less.
6. And, on a more esoteric note, let my friends in more.

2. Get out of debt (thats not so much a resolution as something that is scheduled to happen)

I heartily applaud you on this one, Vail, and would recommend it to everyone who can manage it. I got completely out of debt except for my mortgage about 2005 and it changed my whole life dramatically. The next step was to bank an emergency fund equal to about 3-6 months of income, which has allowed me to be my own bank and pay myself back instead of some credit card company. That way, every dollar I pay counts as a whole dollar, instead of most of it going to interest. I can pay myself back a lot faster than I can pay someone else off.

-Spend more time with my duo.
-Get back to my Happiest size. I hit a wall in losing after lil girl was born, and need to break it.
-Do more that makes ME happy; stop catering to others. Learn to say NO and speak my mind. Just because the truth makes someone mad, it's still the truth and it needs to be said, not swallowed down.
-Be in a job that I love and not let someone's opinions of it ruin things for me.
-Not blow up/'splode/whatever on Dec 21st.

Thats actually just about what I'm doing. I got a couple grand in my savings account finally, so now I can pay off the cards, and then go for the 3-6 month thing. I actually won't be COMPLETELY out of debt, I think i'll have one loan still for another year, but everything else should be gone.
I was actually almost out of debt a couple years ago, but shit happens.
I think that people who have never had to deal with debt don't understand how it never leaves you alone. I know a lot of couples where one person is in charge of all the money. The difference in how the two behave is increidble...you can almost see the weight of it all.

Not to hijack this thread, but that is so very true! When I finally paid off my credit cards, one of the payments I made was nearly 10 grand! (I paid the entire balance off at once after saving up.) But the very next month, those bastards sent me another bill for 187 bucks, just for the interest on the pay-off balance for between when I called them for the payoff amount, and when they applied my payment after I sent it.

At first after paying it off, I didn't realize the stress load that was off my shoulders. And you'd think that after writing a check for 10 grand, that 187 bucks shouldn't be a big deal. But when that final bill came after I thought I was all done with them, all those feelings of stress and the hopeless feeling of never being able to be free of them all came crashing back onto me. It was then that I realized how much stress I had been living with every day for years. I swore then that I would never let myself be enslaved by debt again.

I love all of your resolutions Thyri...this one especially...

Let's see, I managed to put my Christmas tree away on the 6th of January, so check that off my list.

Seducing people, hmmm......Sasha, check (several times, almost daily! Woot!) Britwitch, underway currently, (and I intend to enjoy it.) Cheska, you still owe me some pee, little one. :D (coming soon, or should that be cumming soon, to a thread near you.) Noon hasn't been around much lately. Fr33k, Plexi, Luna, we just need to find a good time I guess.

Paying extra on my house will happen, but not as much as I had hoped, at least not this month. I might have to settle for paying it off in 4 years instead of 3. :(

I guess other people will have to be the judge of how I do on number two. Sadly there have already been some ignored PMs already.

Was about to set up a thread for this year's resolutions and thought I'd bring this one back to the top of the board...did anyone manage to keep theirs...?

:rose:

Looking back, I didn't do badly.

Health - I did exercise more and I did lose weight...gained some towards the end of the year though ;)

Writing - well, my novel is still pretty much as it was...but I do have more ideas and have started making notes on those...

Finance - as a family we've managed to clear a £10,000 debt and we're well on the way to sorting out other areas of instability. Happy to say my photography business has helped!

Appreciation - I have tried throughout the year to say 'thank you' far more often, and to be genuinely appreciative of things that have happened.

And my biggest hope for 2012? Was born on 21.11.12

And the scoreboard says: #5 Putting away the Christmas Tree---Yes!

#4 Seducing certain Litsters---Sad to say this list was not completed. I don't think I ever seduced Britwitch, Plexi, Noon, Fr33ks33k, Luna, or Cheska. Mostly this was due to time issues. But sorry to say that with some, the longer I know them, the less compatible I feel we are sometimes. This doesn't preclude friendship of course, but it's almost like the chemistry would have to be forced or something. I don't know. With some people you just hit it off, you know? Sasha got a lot of my attention, most of it actually, but I don't regret a single moment of the time I spent with her. Now she is pulled away from me by real life, and who knows if she'll be able to return. So the rest of you might have a chance this year.

#3 Using my pontoon boat---Sadly, I did not take the boat out even once this whole year. The marina guy put it in the lake for me around May. he was late getting it put in the water, and it has been tied up at the slip ever since. I didn't even ask him to put it back into storage for me. It's still in the lake.

I don't know how many more guns I bought this year, half a dozen at least. I went shooting a lot, every weekend that I could go. I enjoyed it nearly every time I went, though there were a few occasions that I was not satisfied with my performance or the way my gun of the day performed.

#2 Trying to be kinder to people---I'll have to let someone else decide that one.

And #1 Paying down my mortgage balance---This was a partial one. I did not pay anywhere near as much extra as I intended, though I did pay a little extra each month. I was setting aside most of my money to help my sister replace her car. But that didn't pan out either. She decided to keep her car for another couple years. So the money I had been saving for that went towards a new goal of remodeling certain rooms in my house in preparation for putting it on the market in a year or so and buying a small farm in the country. This year, I managed to remodel the kitchen, which I figure is the biggest expense of the rooms on the list. The rest of the list include two bathrooms and a laundry/utility room. Then new carpet/flooring and paint throughout the house. Those things will be worked towards this next year.

OMG....did I travel....all the way from paradise to this hell called California! HAHA!!

But good things have come out of the travel resolution..I got to finally meet a good friend and spend some time with her in LA and here...yay!!!!
